Porosity and crystal morphology of heterometallic coordination networks from β-diketonate ligands
Porous coordination polymers (PCPs) or metal-organic-frameworks (MOFs) are considered very promising porous materials that can be exploited in many different technological fields such as gas storage, heterogeneous catalysis and separation of mixtures. In the field of MOF materials, many efforts are devoted to the search of rational synthetic procedures. Among others, a useful synthetic strategy is the so-called Metalloligand (MLs) approach. MLs are coordination complexes containing suitably oriented exo donor-groups that, used in place of organic linkers, can orient the formation of desired homo and heterometallic polymeric architectures [1]. Functionalized chelating ligands suited to obtain useful MLs are -diketonate molecules.[2]
We report the synthesis and the structural characterization of two families of coordination frameworks obtained through the use of different -diketonate ligands with copper salts of several counter-ions. The first family of polymers have a two-dimensional layered structure whereas the members of the second family adopt a three-dimensional flexible framework structure.
We have focused our attention to the correlations between the crystal structure, the dimensionality, the topology and porosity of the networks and the crystal morphologies, as well as to the investigation of the surface phenomena during the crystal growing process. Moreover, we have mapped a continuous set of crystal morphologies by controlling experimental variables such as the solvent system, the metal-ligand molar ratio and the nature of the counter-anion. The aim is to develop a method to tune the crystal habit according to the specific requirement of some important applications.[3]

Organizational Climate as Performance Driver: Health Care Workers’ Perception in a Large Hospital
Recently health care (HC) organizations have increasingly embarked on organizational climate (OC) assessment with the intent to improve their efficiency and the quality of the delivered services. This is important; however, it is even if more crucial to ensure that workers engaged in the evaluation process are aware of the importance of their fruitful engagement in this investigation as well as of its potential benefits. From the management viewpoint, this is crucial to plan and implement management initiatives able to create a great place to work. The purpose of this paper is to shed empirical light on how, in effect, HC workers perceive OC for itself and as a performance driver to assess and manage. The study was carried out through an action research (AR) project, which included the use of both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Key phases of the AR project were some focus groups and a survey. During the focus groups, several methods and approaches were adopted for getting opinions from people and animating discussion. About the survey, a total sample of 560 HC workers was investigated.
The AR project has shown that even if HC workers intuitively conceive OC as an important performance driver, the meaning of the construct is not completely clear. Moreover, a good level of awareness among HC workers about how and why OC can improve individual and organizational performance represents a key issue to address in evaluating and managing OC

Individual optimal frequency in whole-body vibration. Effect of protocol, joint angle, and fatiguing exercise

J Strength Cond Res 30(12): 3503-3511, 2016-Recent studies have shown the importance of individualizing the vibration intervention to produce greater effects on the neuromuscular system in less time. The purpose of this study was to assess the individual optimal vibration frequency (OVF) corresponding to the highest muscle activation (RMSmax) during vibration at different frequencies, comparing different protocols. Twenty-nine university students underwent 3 continuous (C) and 2 random (R) different vibrating protocols, maintaining a squat position on a vibration platform. The C protocol lasted 50 seconds and involved the succession of ascending frequencies from 20 to 55 Hz, every 5 seconds. The same protocol was performed twice, having the knee angle at 120° (C) and 90° (C90), to assess the effect of joint angle and after a fatiguing squatting exercise (CF) to evaluate the influence of fatigue on OVF assessment. In the random protocols, vibration time was 20 seconds with a 2-minute (R2) and a 4-minute (R4) pauses between tested frequencies. Muscle activation and OVF values did not differ significantly in the C, R2, and R4 protocols. RMSmax was higher in C90 (p < 0.001) and in CF (p = 0.04) compared with the C protocol. Joint angle and fatiguing exercise had no effect on OVF. In conclusion, the shorter C protocol produced similar myoelectrical activity in the R2 and the R4 protocols, and therefore, it could be equally valid in identifying the OVF with considerable time efficiency. Knee joint angle and fatiguing exercise had an effect on surface electromyography response during vibration but did not affect OVF identification significantly
Co-rumination, anxiety, and maladaptive cognitive schemas: when friendship can hurt

Methods: Self-report measures of co-rumination, trait cognitive and somatic anxiety, and early maladaptive cognitive schemas were provided to a nonclinical sample of 461 young adults. Mediation of co-rumination and trait somatic and cognitive anxiety by each early maladaptive schema domain was tested using nonparametric, bootstrap-based resampling. Results: Significant associations between co-rumination and trait and cognitive anxiety were mediated by schema domains related to Rejection and Disconnection, Overvigilance and Inhibition, and Impaired Autonomy. The association between co-rumination and somatic anxiety was mediated by domains related to Rejection and Disconnection and Impaired Autonomy. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that those who engage in co-rumination, potentially resulting in clinical levels of anxiety, might benefit from treatment that focuses on themes of rejection sensitivity and belonging, beliefs about autonomy, and when the anxiety is more cognitive, treatment that focuses on hypercriticalness and emotional inhibition too. Urban development is the result of demographic dynamics at the local level, connected to socioeconomic factors, and of economic growth, whose fluctuations are particularly sensitive to the economic cycle in countries, such as the ones in the Mediterranean basin, characterized by greater informality of the sector and limited public/social housing. Our objective is to provide a contribution to sustainability planning, explaining the linkage between forms of urban development and economic growth, providing policy indications for integrated spatial planning, and for cohesion policies that may leverage social and economic competitiveness
