Covariant Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations. II. The anisotropic case
We generalize the covariant Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations proposed in Carloni and Vernieri [Phys. Rev. D 97, 124056 (2018).PRVDAQ0556-282110.1103/PhysRevD.97.124056]. to the case of static and spherically symmetric spacetimes with anisotropic sources. The extended equations allow a detailed analysis of the role of the anisotropic terms in the interior solution of relativistic stars and lead to the generalization of some well-known solutions of this type. We show that, like in the isotropic case, one can define generating theorems for the anisotropic Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations. We also find that it is possible to define a reconstruction algorithm able to generate a double infinity of interior solutions. Among these, we derive a class of solutions that can represent "quasi-isotropic" stars

Bonded concrete repairs are widely used in civil engineering applications. During the installation of these repairs, an interface is created between the concrete and the bonding agent. In the case of concrete members strengthened with fiber-reinforced polymers (FRPs), the behavior of the interface and materials surrounding it often governs the structural performance of the concrete elements being repaired. The bond quality and characteristics between concrete and FRP composites have been studied using experimental, analytical, and empirical approaches.
The framework of fracture mechanics has been effectively used by different research groups to characterize and predict interfacial behavior under Mode I loading, Mode II loading or mixed-mode. Both linear and nonlinear elastic fracture mechanics approaches have been explored to characterize debonding failures. The purpose of this special publication is to highlight recent developments on the use of the framework of fracture mechanics to evaluate the performance of reinforced concrete (RC) structures strengthened with FRP composites. We hope that the information provided in this publication will be useful to the researcher and practicing engineer by presenting experimental and analytical tools based on a fracture approach that can assess the shear and flexural capacity of strengthened RC members

Application of fracture mechanics to debonding of FRP from RC members
During the last two decades, externally bonded uni-directional fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites have been widely used for strengthening, repairing, and rehabilitation of reinforced concrete (RC) structural members. The bond characteristics contribute to the effectiveness of the stress transfer achieved between the FRP composite and the concrete substrate. Debonding of the FRP composite reinforcement is the most critical concern in this type of application. Under monotonic and fatigue loading conditions, FRP-concrete shear debonding has been idealized as a Mode-II fracture problem along the bi-material interface. A cohesive material law is used to describe the interfacial stress transfer at the macroscopic level. The area under the entire curve represents the fracture energy and is related to the load-carrying capacity of the interface. In this paper, previous experimental results and literature are discussed to show how the fracture energy can be considered a true fracture parameter. In addition, a simplistic one dimensional numerical analysis of the direct shear test is presented with the intent of pointing out the effect of the fracture parameters related to the cohesive material law on the load carrying capacity. The results are instrumental to discuss the strain limits provided in the ACI 440.2R-08 document
