Modelli d'azienda per il supporto decisionale e la generazione della conoscenza

    No full text

IT Governance in Enterprise Resource Planning and Business Intelligence Systems Environment: a Conceptual Framework

    No full text
A large number of studies has been carried out on IT governance during the last decade, with the aim to support companies in implementing IT governance frameworks aligned with the business strategy. However, companies which create value and develop competitive advantage through an intensive use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Business Intelligence Systems (BIS), should implement an IT governance framework tailored on Critical Success Factors (CSFs) of both systems. To organise the main studies on IT governance frameworks, as well as to support companies in designing (or reviewing) their IT governance framework by considering the CSFs of ERP and BIS, a conceptual framework is introduced and discussed. The insights arising from this study are supported by the literature and suggest that an IT governance framework should be designed by considering the ERP and BIS critical success factors, especially in companies whose success heavily depends on such systems

The interaction between IT and planning: decision support or knowledge generation?

    No full text
The present study aims to discuss, under a theoretical perspective, the role and the added value of the interaction between Information Technology (IT) and decision-making, paying particular attention to the planning context. The main idea of this paper is that the interaction of decision makers with IT, especially when the decisions concern scenario planning and alternative hypotheses, plays two important roles: a) it supports decisions, given the availability of semi-structured information and data provided by IT tools; b) it generates knowledge due both to the iterative approach followed by the decision maker for designing the planning model and to the reasonings and group discussions about the objectives to be defined. The conclusions speculate that the interaction between IT and decision makers is not limited to provide decisional support, but it also generates knowledge and promotes a learning process, especially in a complex decision domain. Therefore, further research is encouraged on this issue, for examining to what extent, and under which conditions, the interaction with IT allows to generate or increase knowledge about a problem, beyond a mere decision support

Processi di simulazione economico finanziaria: il supporto dell’analisi di bilancio

    No full text

Critical Success Factors in Hotel Companies: A Managerial Perspective

    No full text
Literature shows several studies which identify CSFs in hotel companies, examining their role in developing competitive advantage or in supporting the development of the business. Based on prior literature, this study identifies Critical Success Factors (CSFs) which are the most suitable for supporting hotel managers in strategic, management and operational decisions. The managerial approach followed in this research allows to propose three sets of CSFs,each pertaining to one of the three hierarchical levels of the Anthony’s pyramid, andopens the way to further research on the correlation between CSFs and performance management systems

Integrated Information Systems and Information Systems Quality: Prospects for Analysis and Emerging Trends

    No full text
The paper proposes a general review on Information Systems (IS), about their most critical aspects and their capability to support the management. At first, this study examines the role played by integrated IS, with particular regard to the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Business Intelligence (BI) systems and to their evolution. Second, the paper provides a definition of IS quality and of the factors that may influence it. Third, the paper illustrates the role of IT/IS governance in maintaining a suitable quality of IS and in preserving its strategic value. At the end, the paper suggests some research propositions which raise some critical issues about IS, highlights some emerging trends in the IS field and proposes some future research avenues
