Comparing Plant Diversity in Native Landscaping at Calvin University

Calvin University is home to several naturally planted sites, including woodland areas, three rain gardens, and several landscaping beds. The plants that populate these areas are native to Calvin’s watershed and West Michigan. Until this year, no database existed to keep track of which species of plants grow on campus and where. Over the summer, native sites on campus were surveyed to compile a database of the unique species found to examine the capacity for non-human, non-plant diversity on campus. How does the diversity of native sites compare to traditionally planted sites of similar size or position on Calvin University\u27s campus
