Co-rhythm: Analyzing children's performative gesture-based interactions in a music composition tool
In this paper, we present preliminary insights about the classification of children's gestural input elicited from a hand movement tracking prototype for musicmaking, namely Co-Rhythm. The analysis builds on the existing gesture taxonomy in human-computer interaction, and provide insights into children's performative gestures when controlling a musical instrument sound for analysing gestural input. Based on our study with four children (aged between 8-11) and four young adults, we report the qualitative results for describing the gestural categories for analysis and informal observational notes on how children's gestural interaction with the prototype differed from young adults. This study is an initial step towards capturing the complexity of performative gestures in relation to guided vs. free version of visual cues. This study shed a light on children's gestures as an input for embodied interaction in performative tasks (e.g., music composition) as well as providing some design recommendations derived from experts from a design workshop on how to further develop cues for guiding children's performative gestures in music making

Synthesis of two-dimensional molybdenum disulfide atomic film by chemical vapor deposition
This thesis is a summary of the synthesis of Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) Atomic thin films by the technique of Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition (LPCVD).This technique to produce monolayer of MoS2, uniform, and larger area for mass production is the high demand for semiconductor technology. Other techniques such as mechanical exfoliation technique can only provide material at uncontrolled locations and is difficult to reproduce at nanometer scale. This thesis focuses on the synthesis of MoS2 thin film by LPCVD on Silicon (Si) or Silicon Oxidized (SiO2).The process steps to synthesize MoS2 are presented in detail and the fundamental mechanisms governing the growth is studied. In addition, crystal morphology and secondary of nucleation size are discussed. This thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter one explains the synthesis of two dimensional MoS2 thin film by Chemical Vapor Deposition using Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) and disulfur (S2). Chapter two consists mainly of experimental work based on the theoretical reaction of MoS2, which is presented in the introduction of the processing technique. At the end of chapter two, the author introduces the successful of growth thin film MoS2 and presents the technique optimization of crystal triangular domains to 1.8 µm based on Atomic Force microscope (AFM) measurement and triangle crystal size. Chapter two also discusses in detail the experimental conditions used for growth and the literatures are reviewed on the relevant subject. In chapter three, the size of the triangular domain has been studied by different analytical models to verify the thin film MoS2 and crystal domains of MoS2. Chapter four focuses on modeling of N2 flow pattern in the reaction of S and MoO3. At the end of the thesis, Chapter five are summarized, and outlooks for the future prospects are discussed
Anahtar kelimeler: erkeklikler, cinsiyet, patriyarka, hegemonik erkeklikAnnie Ernaux, one of the influential female authors of French literature, has become the focal point of the interdisciplinary studies of the 20th century, due to the sociological background of her writings. The simplicity of her language and the strikingness of her realism make the author popular in both individual and social identity studies. In her writings, she conveys to her readers with all sincerity: the woman, the conflict between generations, briefly being the other in a community and the burden it brings. In her novel “Passion simple” (Eng. Simple Passion), the author describes her interest and passion for a married man with all its simplicity and realism in an autobiographical structure. In the novel, Ernaux reveals forbidden love, obsession, the logic of irrationality, the conflict of power and willpower. For this reason, the novel in question has been examined in a social and psychological context where woman is at the centre. The aim of this study is to deal with the other part of the narrative, the man. In the context of the "Masculinities" theories put forward by R.W. Connell, it is aimed to reveal the structure of this other less-mentioned hero of the novel and the obsession it carries in the light of semiotic data. After the analysis of the hero as an individual, it is envisaged to explain and provide the role of this character, who is the focus of passion, in the social structure. In this context, it will be important to examine the adaptation of the man in the novel to gender roles, his contribution to the definition of this role, and how the intersection of culture and identity structures the phenomenon of masculinity. Consequently, the article, drawing on sociologically informed concept of masculinity, aims at bringing a new dimension to the gender-oriented literary criticism on the novel that has hitherto revolved around women, by offering reading focused on the constitution of the identities of men. Keywords: masculinities, gender, patriarchy, hegemonic masculinit
What is the fate of scientific abstracts? The publication rates of abstracts presented at the 7th National Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics
Objective: Oral and poster presentations held at national and international congresses are recognized as valuable tools for sharing current scientific data and experience among physicians. However, a large proportion of these works fail to be published in scientific journals. We have designed a study to identify the publication rate of presentations held at the 7th National Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2009. Materials and Methods: A systematic search of databases was performed using author names and key words from the abstract title to locate publications in peer-reviewed journals corresponding to the presentations held at the 7th National Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Information regarding mode of presentation, topic, type of affiliation, name and impact factor of the scientific journal, change in author names and time elapsed between presentation and publication were recorded and analyzed statistically. Results: Of 243 abstracts that were presented at the congress, 45 papers (18.5%) were published in international peer-reviewed journals, whereas 39 (16%) were published in national journals. The mean time to publication was 17 +/- 2 months for international and 11 +/- 4 months for national journals (p=0.102). The international publication rate of oral presentations was significantly higher than that of poster presentations (50% vs. 16.2%; p<0.03). The manuscripts were published in a total of 21 journals, with four journals accounting for 49% of the publications. The comparison of the publication rates of the universities with other institutions has yielded no significant difference. Conclusion: Alltough a significant proportion of the abstracts presented in the 7th National Gynecology and Obstetrics Congress have been succesfully converted to publication overall, only a limited percentage of all abstracts have been published in international peer-reviewed journals. The relatively higher conversion to international publication rate of the oral presentations show that they are of higher interest and clinical relevance
Kongrede sunulan bildirilerin kaderi nedir? 7.
Makaleler toplam 21 farklı yabancı dergide yayınlanmıştır ve bu yazıların %49'u 4 dergide (International Journal of Gynecology Obstetrics, International Journal of Gynecological Cancer, European Journal of Gynaecological Oncology ve Clinical and Experimental Obstetrics and Gynecology) yayınlanmıştır. The Bibliomaniac
"The Bibliomaniac" by Charles Nodier is a satirical novella that portrays the consuming obsession of Theodore, a man who dedicates his entire existence to rare books. Distinguished from a bibliophile who loves reading, Theodore cares solely for the physical attributes of books—their rarity, binding, margins, and edition dates—often leaving their pages uncut. He withdraws completely from society, viewing history and humanity only through the lens of bibliography. The narrative focuses on his obsessive pursuit of a flawless 1676 edition of Virgil. Believing he possessed the finest copy in existence, Theodore is devastated when a superior copy appears at an auction. The subsequent revelation that his own treasured book contains a skillfully faked page, rather than being perfect, plunges him into a fatal fever. Even on his deathbed, his obsession remains paramount as he mourns the book he failed to acquire, illustrating the tragic absurdity of valuing material objects over life itself.
Digital Transformation in Tourism: An Intelligent Information System Proposition for Hotel Organizations
The digital transformation process in the tourism industry has been developing further in recent years. In addition to the active use of traditional information technologies, access to data has become relatively easy thanks to the use of smart technologies in this sector, and it has become even more important to interpret this data and improve visitor experiences in line with visitors’ expectations. In this study, which is based on the digitalized tourism perspective called Tourism 4.0 and Smart Tourism, following the Industry 4.0 prospect, digital transformation and the role of digital tools in the accommodation dimension of the tourism sector is discussed and it is aimed to propose an end-to-end smart management system. Thanks to this system which is composed of multiple data collection tools, a relational database for data storage, and interspersed information system modules including a recommendation system, the preferences of the users could be examined to achieve maximum customer satisfaction, and it could be possible to make suggestions for better spending their time in their current visits in line with their preferences. The uniqueness of the chapter is that it simulates the end-to-end digitalization process of accommodation businesses, which is an aspect that has not been discussed in the literature before. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG
Segmenting Potential Customers with Kohonen Network: A Banking Sector Case Study
European, Asian, Middle Eastern, North African Conference on Management and Information Systems, EAMMIS 2021 -- 19 March 2021 through 20 March 2021 -- -- 260709The main objective of this paper is to understand the characteristics of the new customers of a web-based lending bank via a segmentation methodology with Kohonen Network. The main problem involved here is the proposition of a data-driven segmentation approach in the prevention of the loss of remunerative customers’ acquisition in the digital era’s banking industry. The reason for choosing Kohonen Network is the ability to work on large volumes of data and the most appropriate determination of the cluster number, which is the most important decision for cluster analysis, by the technique itself. The well-known purpose of cluster analysis in business analytics is to provide the necessary foresight by revealing previously unknown critical customer characteristics and degrees of importance in order to assist the business in charge in strategic marketing decisions such as market segmentation and target market selection. As a result of the study, new marketing strategies regarding the loss of new customers’ acquisition suggested through the findings of Kohonen clusters. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG
THE DOG IMAGE AND ITS APPEARANCE IN POEMS
In this work, the author tries to present the universe of dog story, under the lights of the elements which establish the main axis of its poetics, as the dogs, the cultures, the image, the pain, the domestic and the spirit human. Really the poems offers dogs stories. It knows about universe, the small dog, the great dog, the dogfight, the dog collar in any kinds. There are dogs in the whole universe, and in all the cultures it reencountered with variants which are only enriching the mythical function of the dog. The very complex symbol of the dog is thus, in seen premiere, connected to the trilogy of elements be in hiding, water, the moon the of which we know occult, female, quite at the same time vegetative, sexual, divinatory, fundamental meaning.Baudelaire writes his poem by becoming identified with the existence, with the animal, with the dog, with the cat and it will be the empathic approach. By establishing an empathy with his existence of poet he believes that he explains really indeed the deep pain of his fictitious creature. Such an empathic study shows us that poet accede in a deep knowledge of the animal universe
