    Educazione sessuale come educazione morale

    No full text
The essay introduces and analyzes the debate that sees the gynecologist Doléris and the sociologist Durkheim among the protagonists, allowing us to observe in what terms and with what observances, at the gates of the Great War, sexuality entered debates, as well as in schools and institutes; on the other hand, it helps in the understanding of a multifaceted, eclectic figure, that of the putative father of organicist functionalism, a fundamental piece for the entire history of sociology, Émile Durkheim. Even today the figure of the sociologist is rather debated and moves within a paradox that sees him as both a progressive and a conservative

    A moral(izing) virus. An introduction

Moral panics play a relevant role in the equilibrium and boundary-maintenance ofthe symbolic-moral universes and represent the struggle of competing and conflicting groups holding different value systems and power differentials. In a neo-Durkheimian fashion, the construction of “hierarchies of credibility and morality” produces macrosocial generalized motivation accounts that “provide social actors with ready-made attributions, explaining events not only after they occur, but also giving cause to future behavior”. The cultural-symbolic analysis of the moralizing effects of COVID-19 shows the existing connections at the micro-level interaction with the broader societal structures, not only through the use of new rhetorical and motivational devices but also through the production of new stigma-related hierarchies related to the relationship between military and sanitary, freedom and safety

This work is based on intense academic collaboration of the Colombian Author with Morris L. Ghezzi who, sinking his roots in the common problematization of the concept of deviance and in dissatisfaction shared for the answers provided, by Sociology and Criminology, led the two thinkers to share the results of own research, to formulate more adequate and more in line answers contemporaneity. The field of deviance is therefore analyzed second Morris L. Ghezzi's theory of marginality, a thesis that has as strong point and, at the same time, as a point of arrival, the relationship of subject/groups with power (from a publicistic perspective). I study it is then taken up and integrated by Germán Silva García with his theory of the divergence which, in addition to examining the causes of the deviance of the individual/of the associates, also highlights the civil characteristics of non-compliant behaviors, opening new and further perspectives

“Boys will be boys” or do they become males? Although socio-criminological disciplines have over time neglected the relationship between violence and masculinity or treated it in essentialist and bio-reductionist terms, more recent constructionist perspectives have been able to look at masculinity (or, rather, masculinities) as socially constructed and negotiated situated products. We will ask, in order to avoid any determinist drift, whether violence and in particular sexual violence can be understood as ways of doing masculinity. Departing from case studies drawn from recent events, we will not look at male sex offenders as abnormalities or social defects, but rather as normal expressions of a way of understanding masculinity that is implicitly considered legitimate

Gender is a cultural product that is constructed, negotiated, performed within specific arenas equipped with peculiar symbol systems. Masculinity will be the main topic discussed in this article. Trying to question the naturalizing association of masculinity and violent conduct/crime, we will focus on the construction of an ideal masculine identity which puts emphasis on doing masculinity doing deviant behavior/crime. Finally, we will observe a specific arena – what can be defined as the field of penitentiary – in which different representations of gender compete to acquire power, to alleviate the frustration and to reconstruct their own erotic-sexual dimension. Taking that masculinity is built primarily in opposition to femininity, what kind of masculinity dominates and becomes a winning model in such gender segregated space

The main aim of the article based on an exploratory research consists precisely in analyzing the processes of normative gender construction in disabled embodiment interpreted through the heterosexual matrix and sexual binarism lenses, processes that intersect with the dimension of disability providing the consolidation of an uncritical construction of disabled bodies subjected to overall processes of normalization. The conclusions and discussions focus on the further depoliticization of those complicit disabled identities who don’t challenge ableism and heterosexism
