Women and Children's Literature-Introduction
The purpose of the book is to emphasize the role of some women writers (who lived from 19th century to the present) who have devoted a large part of their editorial production to the field of children’s literature. Specifically, the research aims at highlighting how the female contribution has modified the antiquated structures and categories used within the literature for childhood. These writers proposed in their books dissonant and divergent characters compared to the custom of having courageous boys and silent and submissive girls as protagonists. Finally, the pedagogical value of some topics that appear repeatedly in their works is emphasized in order to make them fully usable at an educational level. The chapters also offer a comparative
look at some European realities thanks to the scientific contribution of researchers from various geographical and scientific areas such as Italy, Slovenia, Russia, Greece, Austria, Germany, Poland, Portugal, UK and US
Educating the "new woman": the comedies of Grazia Pierantoni Mancini
Abstract: In the last decades of the 19th century, there was a large group of writers in Italy dealing with various issues that we would nowadays define as gender-related, observing social reality from a point of view strongly geared towards female emancipation. This is the case of Grazia Pierantoni Mancini, a writer of considerable cultural depth known also beyond the borders of Italy. In both her narrative and journalistic output, Grazia Pierantoni Mancini focussed on women, highlighting their suffering due to the poverty, violence and the patriarchal context in which they lived.
A fundamental weapon in the struggle to change such a negative reality was the instruction prac-ticed in schools, combined with education in family contexts. Another particularly effective method was the theatre, which was used as a tool for highlighting new behavioural models based on ethical values and the important role that “new women” had to play in society. Mancini’s plays were pub-lished in two different collections, entitled respectively Teatro per fanciulle (1874) and Commedie d’infanzia (1880) (Theatre for Girls and Childhood Comedies), which fully outline the educational ideals that animated her entire literary output, setting out her goal of a moral awakening for young women

Introduction to Protagonismo, attivismo e reti delle donne nelle università contemporanee
The section of this monographic issue present in their in-depth argument some themes that unite them: so let’s try to trace and highlight the red threads that have characterized the history of women not only from the point of view of their arduous journey to have access to higher education but to begin to set up associations that could be a valid help for the request for rights in civil society, equal to those enjoyed by men. First of all, I would like to emphasize the coincidence of the chronology for the initiation of the university access process that occurs in some cases well before an official regulation is approved by national governments. Young women often enroll in university courses to obtain a degree but are not used to attend classrooms to listen to lectures; they prefer to study at home and take exams. The era in which women appear as a novelty that still causes a sensation are the last years of the 19th century. The numbers are still extremely scarce and the faculties chosen have to do with fairly traditional areas, relegated to treatment such as Pharmacy and Medicine, or with teaching, such as the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy. In all the cases analyzed in the articles, the same progression is found: from an initial number of a few tens at the end of the 19th century to the rising tide of the 1960s and 1970s of the 20th century. Today we know with certainty from the statistics compiled by the ministries of education of many countries that female students are the majority of those enrolled in many degree courses, who graduate within the legal timeframe and who obtain better grades
