Visibility and coordination in the fashion apparel supply chain
This research project is aimed at studying visibility and coordination in the fashion apparel supply chain. This topic is considered very relevant in literature, but it hasn’t been exploited in this industry in a complete and structured way.
The goals of the research include the study of the need of visibility among partners along the supply chain, the development of a measure of the visibility level and the study of benefits of an improvement in visibility and the costs of the possible tools and instruments that can be used to reach such an improvement.
The methodology is based on a deep literature review, on semi- structured case studies and on action research. Some preliminary findings from the first case studies (in the high end segment of the industry) are explained

Do virtuality and complexity affect supply chain visibility?
In recent years, scientific literature has devoted much attention to the topic of supply chain visibility. Nevertheless, further research is needed regarding the variables affecting the level of visibility that a company has within its supply chain. In accordance with Contingency Theory, this paper aims to study whether and to what extent the supply chain configuration, in terms of virtuality and complexity, affects supply chain visibility. It proposes a structured approach to quantitatively measure supply chain virtuality, complexity and visibility. This approach has been applied to six case studies to verify its usability and to gather preliminary empirical evidences
