No full textIl saggio prende spunto dallo scritto di Sherry Ortner del 1972 per riflettere sulle ragioni, che hanno imposto nelle varie forme di vita sociale, la condizione di inferiorità sociale e rituale alla donna. Tali ragioni sono individuate nella maggiore subordinazione della donna alla specie rispetto all'uomo; subordinazione che si concreta nella funzione riproduttiva e in tutte quelle pratiche che hanno come obiettivo l'allevamento e la socializzazione dei nuovi membri della società.
Nonostante tale condizione di inferiorità sia apparsa con l'istituirsi stesso dello stato sociale, essa permane ancora oggi e si manifesta, per esempio, nel dibattito sull'attribuzione dei ruoli religiosi dirigenti nel complesso Ocha / Ifá. Sembra che, solo con l'affermarsi della società borghese e con l'imporsi dell'intercambiabilità occupazionale dei due sessi, si siano create le condizioni di un'effettiva uguaglianza, che tuttavia per realizzarsi pienamente deve tenere in conto le differenze ineliminabili tra uomo e donna.This essay takes its cue from a work published by Sherry Ortner in 1972 in order to develop a reflection on the reasons which determined, in various forms of social life, women’s condition of social and ritual inferiority. Arguably, these reasons can be individuated in women’s greater subordination – in comparison to men – to the needs of the species; subordination that concretizes in the reproductive function and in the various practices aiming at rearing and socializing new members of society.
Although this condition of inferiority emerged with the institution of society, it is still present today, and is manifested, for example, in the debate concerning the allocation of leading religious roles in the Ocha / Ifá complex. It seems that only the development of bourgeois society, and the interchangeability of the two sexes in employment, have created the conditions for an effective equality – an equality which, however, in order to be fully realized, must take into account the ineradicable differences between man and woman
