Remarks: In the original description, the type locality is “ Yunnan, Jinghong” while it is “ Yunnan, Yutang” according to the label. “Yutang” is actually in Pu’er, not Jinghong. The first author described the type locality by mistake. Limits of predictability for large-scale urban vehicular mobility
No full textKey challenges in vehicular transportation and communication systems are understanding vehicular mobility and utilizing mobility prediction, which are vital for both solving the congestion problem and helping to build efficient vehicular communication networking. Most of the existing works mainly focus on designing algorithms for mobility prediction and exploring utilization of these algorithms. However, the crucial questions of how much the mobility is predictable and how the mobility predictability can be used to enhance the system performance are still the open and unsolved problems. In this paper, we consider the fundamental problem of the predictability limits of vehicular mobility. By using two large-scale urban city vehicular traces, we propose an intuitive but effective model of areas transition to describe the vehicular mobility among the areas divided by the city intersections. Based on this model, we examine the predictability limits of large-scale urban vehicular networks and obtain the maximal predictability based on the methodology of entropy theory. Our study finds that about 78%–99% of the location and above 70% of the staying time, respectively, are predicable. Our findings thus reveal that there is strong regularity in the daily vehicular mobility, which can be exploited in practical prediction algorithm design

No full textThis recording and transcript form part of a collection of oral history interviews conducted by the Chao Center for Asian Studies at Rice University. This collection includes audio recordings and transcripts of interviews with Asian Americans native to or living in Houston.Shih-hui Chen is a composer who was born in Taiwan in 1962. Having finished her bachelor’s degree at the National Taiwan University of Arts, she arrived in the United States in 1982 to pursue her master’s and doctoral degrees at North Illinois University and Boston University, respectively. Having earlier garnered numerous awards for her works, Shih-hui furthered her studies in composing contemporary Western music. However, in 2010 she received a two-year Fulbright Senior Scholar Fellowship in Taiwan. This experience led her to seek her cultural and musical roots, and to bring Taiwan’s unique nanguan1 music to the rest of the world. Her subsequent compositions incorporated elements of the indigenous sound. This music was performed in concerts and also featured in documentary films, bringing her more awards and invitations to perform around the world.
Shih-hui currently teaches Composition at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. She is actively involved in the local community. Shih-hui is married to Kurt Stallman, also a professor of composer at the Shepherd School. They have one daughter

Description: The measurements see Chen & Li (1995). Male palp (Figs 65 A–C, 65E–F, 66): Tibia shorter than cymbium. Paracymbium small, U-shaped, without bifurcated tip. Distal suprategular apophysis long, slender, with narrow dorsal hooked tip, without ventral membranous branch. Lamella well-developed, with four projections: lateral one short; posterior one long and slender; anterior one large, blunt; dorsal one short. Terminal apophysis bifurcated basally, ventral branch slightly twisted, with conspicuous grooves, dorsal branch upright, with enlarged end. Embolus simple, long, slender, without appendage distally. Male habitus as in Fig. 67B. Epigynum (Figs 65D, 67C): In ventral view, atrium opening triangular, with the anterior margin almost horizontal. Parmula arising from dorsal wall, with a semicircular tip, which has a small depression at its tip. Vulva (Figs 65 G–H, 67D–E): Vulva wider than long, with two oval lobes anteriorly; copulatory grooves started mesally, with about one coil; fertilization grooves enter the spermathecae, with about one coil; turning-points small, situated laterally, pointing towards laterally; spermathecae long, slender, pointing towards laterally.
