Lo "spazio mentale" della non fiction in "Fattacci" di Vincenzo Cerami
The article focuses on the non-fictional production of the Italian poet, novelist, and screenplayer Vincenzo Cerami (1940-2013), who is mostly known for his non-fiction short stories "Fattacci". The essay investigates the peculiar relationship established by Cerami with the so-called reality of the murders and studies "Fattacci" in the light of his screenwriting (e.g. the novelization of Roberto Benigni's "Il mostro") and in comparison with Matteo Garrone, who has been influenced by Cerami's approach in his movies
Metodi variazionali nello studio di problemi al contorno con parte non lineare discontinua
The main purpose of this paper is to use variational methods in the study of problems of following type: {Mathematical expression} Here Ω is supposed to be a bounded domain with smooth boundary ∂ Ω, L an elliptic operator, λ∈IR and f(x, t) a real function defined on {Mathematical expression} having one or several simple discontinuities on t. Mainly we are interested in solutions which satisfy (.) a. e., which are most meaningful in physical problems, and we prove various existence theorems for several choices of L, f and λ. The main difficulty consists in the fact that the functionals related to (.) are not Fréchet differentiable in every point, since f is discontinuou
The effect of concentrating potentials in some singularly perturbed problems
The equation -epsilon(2) Deltau + a(epsilon)(x)u = f(u) with boundary Dirichlet zero data is considered in a bounded domain Omega subset of R-N. Under the assumption that a(epsilon)(x) greater than or equal to a(infinity) > 0 concentrates, as epsilon --> 0, round a manifold M is an element of Omega and that f is a superlinear function, satisfying suitable growth assumptions, the existence of multiple distinct positive solutions is proved
On some nonhomogeneous elliptic problems in unbounded domains
In this paper we consider the problem
\left\{\begin{array}{ll}
- \Delta u + u\ =\ |u|^{p-2}u + f(x)&\quad\mbox{in $\Omega$,}\\
u = u_0 &\quad\mbox{on $\partial\Omega$,}
\end{array}\right.
where , being a nonempty open bounded domain of having smooth boundary , , , , .
We prove that, if and are nonnegative and satisfy suitable conditions, there exist at least two positive solutions.
Moreover, the existence of a solution is shown to hold even when no condition on the sign of and is assumed

Does uterine position affect pain intensity during outpatient diagnostic hysteroscopy?
Objective: To assess the impact of uterine position on pain intensity during outpatient diagnostic hysteroscopy. Materials and Methods: Retrospective data from 312 diagnostic hysteroscopy patients were evaluated. Pain was measured using a 10-cm visual analog scale (VAS). Analyses were performed to determine associations between uterine position [anteverted-anteflexed (AA), anteverted-retroflexed (AR), retroverted-anteflexed (RA), retroverted-retroflexed (RR)], and pain intensity during the procedure (VAS > 3 vs. VAS ≤ 3). Patient characteristics and clinical variables were evaluated using univariate and multivariate analysis. Results: Logistic regression analysis revealed no association between uterine position and pain intensity during outpatient diagnostic hysteroscopy [AA uterus, adjusted odds ratio (AOR) = 0.82, confidence interval (CI): 0.39–1.72; AR uterus, AOR = 0.65, CI: 0.25–1.71; RA uterus, AOR = 1.37, CI: 0.38–4.84; RR uterus, AOR = 0.84, CI: 0.22–3.17]. Conclusion: The present data suggest that uterine position does not affect pain intensity during diagnostic hysteroscopy
Weighing the role of social cognition and executive functioning in pragmatics in the schizophrenia spectrum: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Pragmatic impairment is diffused in schizophrenia spectrum disorders, but the literature still debates its neurocognitive underpinnings. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate the neurocognitive correlates of pragmatic disorders in schizophrenia and determine the weight of social cognition and executive functioning on such disorders. Of the 2,668 records retrieved from the literature, 16 papers were included in the systematic review, mostly focused on non-literal meanings and discourse production in schizophrenia. Ten studies were included in the meta-analysis: pragmatics was moderately associated with both social cognition and executive functions (especially inhibition), but the link with social cognition was stronger. The mediation analysis showed that social cognition mediated the relationship between executive functions and pragmatics. Based on this, we proposed a hierarchical neurocognitive model where pragmatics stems from social cognition, while executive functions are the fertile ground supporting the other two domains, and we discuss its theoretical and clinical implications
