    Climatizzazione a gas nei supermercati

    No full text

    nocturnal asthma

    No full text
Presence of asthma symptoms during the night are a known component of the disease. It is still unclear whether night time symptoms are an expression of increased asthma severity or whether nocturnal asthma is a distinct entity. A number of mechanisms have been hypothesized to explain the phenomenon of nocturnal asthma, including exposure to dust mite allergen, late-phase allergic reactions, effects of posture and sleep stage on airway tone, gastro-esophageal reflex, impaired mucociliary clearance, airway cooling, and changes in circadian rhythms of circulating hormones. Several therapeutic options have been studied over the years. These include chronobiological use of corticosteroids, long acting β-agonists, theophylline derivatives and antileukotriene drugs. Correction of comorbidities such as gastro-esophageal reflux disease or sleep apnea may contribute to symptom control in selected cases. Further studies would be useful to better define the underlying mechanisms of nocturnal asthma and response to therapeutic measures

    Variations on the Author

    No full text
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

SETTING: Screening for latent tuberculous infection (LTBI) of groups at high risk of active tuberculosis (TB) is a key component of the End TB Strategy. OBJECTIVE: To conduct a retrospective descriptive analysis of LTBI rates among foreign-born individuals applying to shelters in the metropolitan area of Milan, Italy. DESIGN: All foreign-born individuals registering for accommodation centres in the city of Milan from November 2009 to April 2017 were screened for active TB and LTBI. Individuals aged <36 years with a tuberculin skin test (TST) induration of >10 mm were offered confirmatory testing with QuantiFERON®-TB Gold In-Tube (QFT-GIT). RESULTS: Of the 2666 TST-positive migrants aged <36 years who underwent LTBI confirmation testing, 1322 (49.6%) tested negative, 1339 (50.2%) were positive and five (0.2%) had indeterminate results. In the multivariate analysis, TB incidence in the country of origin and age were significantly associated with QFT-GIT positivity. Although estimated TB incidence in Eritrea, Morocco and Romania was 100/100 000 person-years (py), the probability of being QFT-GIT-positive in individuals from these countries were not statistically significantly different from individuals from countries with TB incidence > 250/100 000 person-years. CONCLUSION: Our data showed a high proportion of LTBI among individuals coming from intermediate TB burden countries

Fifteen years of research in innovative HVAC plants at DTG

At the Department of Management and Engineering (DTG) of the University of Padova (Italy), the research team led by Prof. Renato Lazzarin, formed by the au-thors, worked during the first fifteen years of the millennium on different topics fo-cused on innovative HVAC technologies. Both experimental and theoreti-cal/modelling studies were carried on: condensing boilers performances were eval-uated in different climates; a liquid desiccant system for the air conditioning of one of the DTG buildings, operating both in winter and in summer mode, was designed, realized and tested; a self-regenerating liquid desiccant cooling system able to de-humidify, heating or cooling the ambient air by an electric heat pump was installed in a new building of the Vicenza hospital, and a data logging system was set up to monitor several parameters; a Gas Engine Heat Pump plant for the air conditioning of another building of the DTG was designed, realized and monitored for a long pe-riod; a multi-source heat pump system for a school building was modelled and dy-namically simulated, and then designed and monitored; hybrid water/phase change materials tanks were modelled, designed and tested for thermal energy storage; fi-nally, thermal and electric solar cooling plants were modelled and dynamically simulated for evaluating energy performance. The paper summarizes the main ideas and results of the research during the fifteen years period of work together

Also By The Same Author: AKTiveAuthor, a Citation Graph Approach to Name Disambiguation

    No full text
The desire for definitive data and the semantic web drive for inference over heterogeneous data sources requires co-reference resolution to be performed on those data. In particular, name disambiguation is required to allow accurate publication lists, citation counts and impact measures to be determined. This paper describes a graph-based approach to author disambiguation on large-scale citation networks. Using self-citation, co-authorship and document source analyses, AKTiveAuthor clusters papers, achieving precision of 0.997 and recall of 0.818 over a test group of eight surname clusters

Jersey Homesteads (later the Borough of Roosevelt) was established in the 1930s as an agro-industrial cooperative community. It was established specifically for urban Jewish garment workers, many of whom had emigrated from Europe. President John F. Kennedy sent a telegram to the citizens of Roosevelt, New Jersey, apologizing for not being able to attend the memorial dedication in honor of former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. (Jersey Homesteads became Roosevelt in 1945 in honor of the president.) President Kennedy expressed his gratitude to the people of Roosevelt for constructing the memorial, and commented that it will serve as a constant reminder of Roosevelt's good works
