Abstract. As an on-going process of integrating companies, people, and governments on an international level, globalization is driven by economic motives. International trade and investment provides opportunities for enterprises to alleviate costs, increase productivity, and compete on a global scale. Managers that lead global enterprises are faced with complex and dynamic situations for which they require practical tools and real-world solutions. Although other books have addressed globalization with respect to an individual practitioner, a relevant theory, or a particular market, Volume I brings together an international interdisciplinary team of scholars in an effort to provide a truly global perspective. Against a fragmented tapestry that makes up the current literature on global enterprise management (see international marketing/project management/human resource management for examples), the 256-page volume edited by Angelo A. Camillo, represents an ambitious attempt to bring together international talent for a collaborative effort that spans nine countries and four continents. Organized in two volumes - of which the first is herein reviewed, Global Enterprise Management showcases a collection of essays with a world-wide perspective that provides unique interpretations, theoretical considerations, and credible solutions to global enterprise managers.Keywords. This paper investigates the concept of “Albergo Diffuso” - a new form of sustainable development within the tourism and lodging industry. The authors analyze its main characteristics and discuss its future development and sustainability practices. The analysis includes an assessment of the Albergo Diffuso concept with that of a standard hotel to determine if and how this emergent concept differs from the conventional accommodation by looking at its distinctive features. A data collection through structured interviews with Albergo Diffuso owners in a focus group setting was conducted. Overall, the authors identified the main characteristics of the Albergo Diffuso: it offers similar and unique amenities of a typical hotel brand, it contributes to the creation of new sustainable enterprises, and it contributes to the development of new sustainability policy for marginal regions. They also evaluated the challenges and opportunities this new entrepreneurial concept faces.</p

The Impact of Social Network on Italian Users' Behavioural Intention for the Choice of a Medical Tourist Destination

Tourism represents one of the most important industries in the global economy. Medical tourism is not a new phenomenon: mankind has traveled to foreign lands to access treatment for many years. Current research in information and communication technology considerably affects the tourism industry by providing innovative tools capable, on the one hand, of supporting tourists in organizing their holidays and, on the other, of supplying fast and efficient information on tourist destination. Published literature shows that many aspects of medical tourists' behavior are under-researched. One of these aspects is the impact of social media on tourists' behavior for the choice of tourist medical destination, which is the original focus of this research. This paper explores how a social network can become a strategic platform using eWOM (electronic Word of Mouth) as a tool for disseminating fast and detailed information for the choice of medical tourist destination. A survey instrument was used to collect information from Italian active users of a social network: Facebook. Data was solicited from 960 active, experienced users. The findings support the development of medical tourism communication strategies focused on the online contexts as factors capable of influencing medical tourists' behavior in a more efficient way. Implications and future research directions are discussed.</jats:p

"Revenue management"effects related to financial flows generated by climate policy

This paper discusses possible macroeconomic implications for low-income countries of increased revenue inflows that may follow from implementing certain global greenhouse gas mitigation policies. Such revenue sources include revenue from emissions offset mechanisms, direct investments, and financial transfers that form parts of possible future mitigation treaties. In the short run such revenue will come mainly from offset markets and donor-sponsored programs, with some additional financial inflows due to foreign direct investments. In the longer run, comprehensive global cap-and-trade or carbon tax schemes could provide a potentially much larger revenue flow to many low-income countries. The author argues that the macroeconomic implications of such flows are manageable in the short run, but the larger revenues resulting from global emissions schemes could overwhelm this capacity and lead to a number of potential macroeconomic management problems.Debt Markets,Climate Change Economics,Emerging Markets,Economic Theory&Research,Access to Finance

The effects of storage conditions on long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, lipid mediators, and antioxidants in donor human milk – a review

Donor human milk (DHM) is the preferred alternative for feeding infants, if maternal milk is not available. However, extensive storage and processing of DHM may negatively affect the composition. Currently safety measures predominantly consider microbiological aspects, and with the increasing demand for DHM in neonatal units due to greater survival of extremely preterm infants it is imperative to prioritise nutritional quality. This review summarises current evidence of the effects of storage and processing conditions on total fat, long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, lipid mediators and antioxidant content of DHM. Based on the available evidence, it is recommended that storage time is minimised, and DHM kept in light protected bottles. Storage at 4°C should be avoided whenever possible, with storage at 80°C prior to pasteurisation being preferential. Further research is needed to evaluate the effects of long term storage at 20°C, and the impact of storage conditions on lipid mediators. © 2019, Elsevier.
