Finding Aid for Paul C. Nelson Personal Papers, 1933-1934
Paul C. Nelson (1887-1947) was born in Hundborg, Denmark, and came to America in 1912, settling in Racine, Wisconsin. He followed the carpentry trade and became foreperson of the cabinet making department in a Racine factory. In 1915, he was
appointed instructor of carpentry and woodworking in the Racine Vocational School where he remained until coming to Stout. Nelson received his BS degree in woodworking at Stout in 1933 and his MS degree in industrial arts at Iowa State College in 1934.
Nelson served as a faculty member at Stout from 1926 to 1947, when he died of a heart attack in March of 1947. Nelson taught many phases of carpentry and woodworking at Stout and is regarded as a pioneer in developing the visual education department at Stout. He served as the chair of the Stout Housing Committee and helped to find housing for returning WWII veterans.This collection includes research and writings from Stout faculty member Paul C. Nelson

Photographs seem to have been compiled retrospectively months before its compilation.
