Comparative study in terms of efficiency of different wind farms structures

    No full text
Having a given number of Wind Turbines that have to be connected to the main electrical power system, this paper analyzes layouts of electrical networks comparing them from the efficiency point of view. Same number of turbines, same type of turbines, same voltage levels, same laying conditions of the cables and same cluster layouts are maintained, but connection of first turbines of the feeders to the substation are modified. For these conditions this paper shows which layout is more efficient taking into account the power curve of the Wind Farm

Sub zodia magnetismului erotic: masculinitate și feminitate decadente în poezia lui Alexandru Macedonski

More than a hundred years after his death, Macedonski’s multiform and eclectic literary career is still waiting to be rediscovered and objectively evaluated in a transnational perspective, necessary today, given that we are in the presence of a bilingual author whose work in French has the same value as that in Romanian. Macedonski’s poetics, constantly open to innovation, through fruitful grafts and hybridizations with the literary and artistic currents that dominated and shaped the Western European culture, carries within itself all the devastating contradictions and paradoxical excesses of a transitional, deeply precarious and unstable age. If we consider the time frame of Macedonski’s work (1872-1920), we will notice that, in his eccentricity always exhibited in a narcissist way, his work overlaps, in part, with an “extended” and “amplified” fin de siècle, a troubled historical and cultural period, but at the same time dynamic in the highest degree, which can no longer be circumscribed only to the last years of the 19th century. Beyond these chronological coincidences, the very coordinates of the Macedonski’s work require us to frame it in a specific cultural atmosphere, imbued not only with aestheticism and esotericism, but also with experimentalism. If we look at it through this prism, the literary and existential trajectory of Macedonski is configured as one of the most emblematic moments of European Decadentism, an era traversed by the anxieties of a fractured complexity. The Macedonskian identity, as it is constructed especially at the level of eroticism (focused on an ambiguous interrelationship between male and female polarities, with their specific representations in the poetic imaginary) is certainly the thematic area in which, more than any other, a fin de siècle spirituality is mirrored, marked by abysmal stratifications and mythical sedimentations. I propose to outline, this time focusing only on some poetic texts in Romanian and in French, the construction of Macedonskian masculinity and femininity as a reflex of the decadent theatricalization of identity and alterity, and the interaction between femininity and masculinity which, as I will demonstrate, is materialized through magnetism, both psychic and erotic

Sizing of photovoltaic sources and storage devices for stand-alone power plants

    No full text
The paper deals with the sizing a PV based source capable of working stand alone. The objective in the design of a PV system is to provide reliable power supply to the load without interruptions and without wasting energy. Several methods for evaluating the achievement of the above objective were found in the literature. In the paper authors proposes a method to size, in one step, the source and the storage systems. In this way it is possible to achieve an optimal sizing with a consequent reduction of plant costs. The resulting system has to be capable of satisfying the load demand in all the weather conditions. Numerical simulations have been effected to show the effectiveness of the proposed method and the capability of the sized system of supplying the load under real working conditions

Bariatric surgery evolution in Romania. Results during first year after a variety of bariatric procedures

    No full text
Obesity is a worldwide public health problem (both in developed and developing countries), the most frequent nutritional disease in the world, with considerable morbidity-mortality and high costs for the public healthcare systems. Bariatric surgery has been found to be the only method capable of maintaining proper and long-lasting weight loss for morbid obesity. Laparoscopy is the gold standard for bariatric procedures. We studied a group of 341 patients who underwent different types of laparoscopic bariatric surgical procedures: laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB), laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG), laparoscopic gastric bypass (LGB) and laparoscopic bilio-pancreatic diversion (LBPD). They were evaluated preoperative (weight, BMI, co-morbidities) and followed-up for 1 year: 238 patients LAGB, 46 LSG, 49 LGB and 8 LBPD. Mortality and conversion rate were nil for all groups. A significant reduction in patients' weight was shown at 12 months postoperatively. BMI decreased from 45.6 kg/m 2 to 37.9 for LAGB, from 54.12 to 40.8 kg/m 2 for LGB and from 49.1 to 31.2 kg/m 2 for LSG. The excess weight loss for LBPD was 63%. A significant improvement of co-morbidities was noticed; all patients with type 2 diabetes have normal serum glucose levels at 1 year after surgery. Bariatric surgery is safe with a low complication rate and the outcome was similar to literature data. Although we do not benefit of a long time follow-up, the favorable results allow us to state that minimally invasive surgical techniques deserve an important place in the efforts of struggling against obesity and its consequences

Role of the structural nonlinearity in enhancing the performance of a vibration energy harvester based on the electrets materials

    No full text
Films of electret material are currently used to cover the surface of electrodes of some vibration capacitive harvesters based on deformable beams, clamped at both ends. Nevertheless, performance of this device is often predicted through some simplified electromechanical model, which neglects the effect of geometric nonlinearity due to a mechanical coupling between the axial and flexural behaviors of the clamped beam. Stiffening of beam and nonlinear behavior are herein investigated, by resorting to a distributed model of electromechanical coupling of the vibration harvester, based on the finite element method. Influence upon the performance of energy conversion is then analyzed and an optimization of the configuration is proposed to assess some suitable design criteri

AN ANALYTICAL AND NORMATIVE APPROACH TO MASS MEDIA OPERATION, IN COMPLEMENTARITY WITH MODERN MILITARY OPERATION EDITED BY NICOLETA ANNEMARIE MUNTEANU

    No full text
Abstract: Nicoleta Annemarie Munteanu, well-known author on the subject of communication in the military field, both as an author of books and studies and articles, offers us the book ”Operația mass-media, complementaritate a operației militare moderne” [Media operation, complementarity of modern military operation], under the edition of Techno Media Publishing House from Sibiu, appeared in 2019. The research effort is directed towards the objective of designing a national strategy that includes the media operation as an extension of modern military action, but also as a factor that has the capacity to determine and influence the development of military action, with beneficial effects both on the conduct of missions, but also on the way in which civil society perceives the military action and the institution of the Romanian army

Determination of the second- and third-order elastic constants in Al from the natural frequencies

    No full text
The Hamiltonian approach to the calculation of vibrational modes of elastic cubic objects is exploited, including the effect of higher-order elastic constants. A technique is presented for solving the inverse problem, i.e., the determination of second- and third-order elastic constants for face cubic centered crystals by inversion of natural frequencies data. An unconstrained minimization algorithm, using gradient methods, is used to numerically solve the inverse problem. The method is applied to the case of Al alloys, since they are particularly suitable for applications of the acoustoelastic effect, which requires a knowledge of the third-order elastic constants. The efficiency and the accuracy of the method and the influence of measurement errors are discussed. (C) 1997 Acoustical Society of America
