A New Twofold Cornacchia-Type Algorithm
We focus on exploring more potential of Longa and Sica\u27s algorithm (ASIACRYPT 2012), which is an elaborate iterated Cornacchia algorithm that can compute short bases for 4-GLV decompositions. The algorithm consists of two sub-algorithms, the first one in the ring of integers and the second one in the Gaussian integer ring . We observe that in the second sub-algorithm can be replaced by another Euclidean domain . As a consequence, we design a new twofold Cornacchia-type algorithm with a theoretic upper bound of output , where with small values given by the curve. Besides, we give some applications of our new algotithm in some cuvres not considered in Longa and Sica\u27s algorithm
Partial hydrogenation of a C18:3-rich FAME mixture over Pd/C
The study focuses on the partial hydrogenation of a C18:3-rich FAME mixture (a-linolenate/linoleate:
~3.5:1 mol/mol) taken as a model of FAME materials obtainable from alternative non-edible oils deriving
from non-food biomass, which are suitable feedstocks for 2nd generation biodiesel. High C18:1 yield and
selectivity required an accurate control of reaction time and temperature because of stearate generation
through consecutive reactions C18:3/C18:2/C18:1/C18:0. In n-heptane, under mild conditions
(50 °C, 0.1 MPa H2, 1 h), the FAME mixture was converted over Pd(5%)/C into C18:1 selectively (97.8%),
with high yield (81.1%). The final mixture was C18:3-free (0.1%) and showed a low content of stearate
(2.0%). Also the C18:2 component was markedly reduced (21.5%/16.7%). The content of trans-C18:1-
monoenes was 39.0%. A lower content of trans-C18:1 (16.4%) was attained at 0 °C (1.5 h). Under the
latter conditions, stearate and C18:3 in the final product were, respectively, 3.3% and 1.5%. Remarkably,
Pd/C can act as a tunable catalyst being able to promote effectively the full hydrogenation of the FAME
mixture to stearate under uncommon very mild conditions (0 °C, 0.1 MPa) within a relatively short time
(6 h). Under solventless conditions or in polar solvents (MeOH, THF, dimethyl carbonate), hydrogenation
was slower and less selective than in n-heptane
Tribological Behavior of a Selective Laser Melted CoCrMo Alloy under Different Heat Treatment, Loading, and Sliding Conditions
Selective laser melted (SLM) CoCrMo alloy holds promise in various biomedical and industrial applications, requiring exceptional tribological properties to withstand contact interactions and wear. Despite this, research on SLM-CoCrMo tribology remains relatively unexplored. This study presents a comprehensive comparative analysis, evaluating the impact of heat treatments, specifically at 800 °C/2 h, 1150 °C/2 h, and hot isostatic pressing (HIP), under varying load levels (2 N, 5 N, and 7 N) and sliding conditions (single way or reciprocating). The results demonstrate that different combinations of load, sliding condition, and heat treatment induce diverse wear mechanisms, significantly influencing the alloy’s tribological performance. Specifically, the as-built (AB) condition showed the highest wear rates at 2 N, whereas HIP-treated samples exhibited a significant reduction in wear rate compared to AB specimens at 7 N, under both reciprocating and single-way sliding conditions. Among the investigated conditions, HIP treatment emerged as the optimal compromise between wear resistance and mechanical properties. The findings provide valuable insights for optimizing the tribological behavior of the SLM-CoCrMo alloy, especially in load-bearing biomedical applications such as joint implants and prosthetics components
SURGICAL TREATMENT OF CYST OF THE CANAL OF NUCK AND PREVENTION OF LYMPHATIC COMPLICATIONS: A SINGLE-CENTER EXPERIENCE
The canal of Nuck is a residue of the peritoneal evagination that runs along the round ligament through the inguinal canal in women. Its partial or total patency can lead to a cystic lymphangioma (CL). CL of the canal of Nuck in an adult female is a rare entity and its clinical diagnosis can be difficult or incorrect. Ultrasonography can be useful to identify the nature of groin masses. A potential CL of the canal of Nuck should always be considered in the differential diagnosis of inguinal swelling in adult females. Even if it is possible to consider conservative treatment, the optimal therapeutic option is surgical excision of the cystic mass and closure of the inguinal ring by an anterior approach. In this study, we report a case series offour women affected by a cyst of the canal of Nuck to underline the surgical treatment's therapeutic role of this pathological condition and the importance of preliminary identification of lymphatic vessels with BPV (Blue Patent Violet) in order to prevent lymphatic injuries such as lymphorrea and lymphocele in the groin after surgery due to the disruption of inguinal lymph nodes and lymphatics
A New Twofold Cornacchia-Type Algorithm and Its Applications

The new twofold algorithm can be used to compute -GLV decompositions on two classes of curves. First it gives a new and unified method to compute all -GLV decompositions on -invariant elliptic curves over . Second it can be used to compute the -GLV decomposition on the Jacobian of the hyperelliptic curve defined as , which has an endomorphism with the characteristic equation (hence ). As far as we know, none of the previous algorithms can be used to compute the -GLV decomposition on the latter class of curves
Il genio sovversivo di Renato Caccioppoli secondo Jean-Nöel Schifano
This paper introduces and analyzes characteristics, aspects and contents of the
biographical story that Jean-Noël Schifano has written about Renato Caccioppoli
(Naples, 1904-1959), a recognized academic and mathematical genius. Caccioppoli was
also a pianist, a lover of cinema and literature, an anarchist and a militant communist
who lived his passions in a feverish way. Forgotten and then brought back to the fore by
the film “Morte di un genio matematico” (directed by Mario Martone in 1992), there is a
risk he will be remembered by the great public above all for his charisma and
eccentricity. To avoid this risk, Schifano neither exalts nor privileges some aspects of
Caccioppoli, succeeding in realizing a fresh and whole “portrait”. Besides, the present
paper shows that, going over the characteristics of the biographical genre, the author
puts the narration of the events of Caccioppoli’s life in a sort of intimate journal: it
achieves the effect of a direct conversation between the author/narrator and the reader
and a greater effectiveness at the level of characterization.Il contributo che segue presenta e analizza caratteristiche, aspetti e contenuti del
racconto biografico edito da Gallimard che Jean-Noël Schifano dedica a Renato Caccioppoli (Napoli, 1904-
1959), accademico riconosciuto e genio matematico.

Expectations and Young Hopes: a research with graduate students in Education
In the last few years, most of Italian literature on adult education reported a change in the widespread conception of adulthood. In the recent past adults were associated with features of stability, certainty, security and the current generation of forties has grown up with many illusions: the permanent position at work and the stability of family relationships. The reality is very different and today’s adults are managing situations that profoundly differ from the past, characterized by flexibility and insecurity, whether at work, both in human relations. On the other hand today’s twenties seem more prepared to live in an uncertain word, and their vision on future and on hope is changing. They accept more consciously to essay with the unforeseen and they feel better in temporariness. This paper reflects on the nature of hope as experienced by young adults living in the North East of Italy. The aim of this article is understand how the concept of hope is connected to the personal and professional idea of future of the “new adults”. This qualitative study analyses the data from 18 interviews with students three years university graduated in Education in three Italian Universities (Ferrara, Padua, Trieste), discussing the orientation towards hope is perceived: as a condition required for the individual wellbeing or as a competence to learn for the future. Research questions of this exploratory study are: How young adults with a degree in Education think about their future? Is their representation hopeless? What kind of hope? Which is the idea of hope derived from their university courses? Is this idea in contrast to their current job in education? The initial results of this research – to be followed by further investigation and deep analysis – demonstrate that our respondents, belonging to the current generation of "young adults", testify how in the contemporary age we are experiencing a paradigm shift regarding the identity of adult. In fact, although the characterizations and expectations consistent with the traditional connotations of certainty, solidity and stability of adult status and its role in society still persist, the connotations of flexibility, dynamism and, also, uncertainty and insecurity are beginning to spread; they are not perceived as exceptional situations, but as a “new normality” of being adult today and in the foreseeable future. New challenges are now facing Adult Education: on the one hand to reflect on emerging models of adulthood; on the other hand, to realize projects and actions to manage multiple transitions towards adulthood
