Genius loci e locus Sancti
The book shows the Lombard landscape through the gaze of the saints in votive niches, with a selection of about 1000 images collected on the occasion of the photography project Between heaven and earth by artist Claudio Beorchia for the Museum of Contemporary Photography of Cinisello Balsamo. The publication takes inspiration from classic editions such as the missal, Italian Touring Club guide, the dictionary, collecting in 700 pages thousands of images including full-color printed photographs and black and white miniatures, as well as a general index that shows the data of the 2911 niches photographed. The first section of the book collects more than 200 photographs and shows what the saints see from their positions in a subjective way, thanks to the shape of the image traced exactly on the shape of the niche from which the figure is protruding towards the surrounding environment. A selection of about 800 black and white miniatures, which directly relate the images of the saints and their gaze, is ordered through ten taxonomies.
Indicazioni all'osteosintesi esterna
A Compositional Semantics for Logic Programs
AbstractThis paper considers open logic programs originally as a tool to build an OR-compositional semantics of logic programs. We extend the original semantic definitions in the framework of the general approach to the semantics of logic programs described by Gabbrielli and Levi (1991). We first define an operational semantics OΩ(P) which models computed answer substitutions and which is compositional w.r.t. the union of programs. Next, we consider the semantic domain of Ω-denotations, which are sets of clauses with a suitable equivalence relation. The fixpoint semantics FΩ(P) given by Bossi and Menegus (1991) is proved equivalent to the operational semantics. From the model-theoretic viewpoint, an Ω-denotation is mapped onto a set of Herbrand interpretations, thus leading to a definition of an Ω-model based on the classical notion of truth. Moreover, we consider a particular kind of Ω-models (compositional models), and we show that OΩ(P) is a (nonminimal) compositional Ω-model. A suitable abstraction of OΩ(P) is compositional and fully abstract w.r.t. the equivalence induced by successful derivations. Finally, some applications of our semantics are discussed. In particular, OΩ(P) can be viewed as the foundations of modular program analysis

Generali Group's sustainability strategy
“Achieving long-term sustainable growth” and “encouraging a lower environmental impact” are two closely related pillars of Generali Group’s sustainability strategy. Economic growth cannot be sustainable if social values linked to quality and availability of primary natural resources such as water, air and soil, are compromised by careless management, which can threaten the quality of life of future generations. For this reason, Generali has decided to carry through an important international
project to introduce an Environmental management system

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: End-stage renal disease patients on hemodialysis (HD) often present osteoarticular and musculoskeletal complications related both to chronic renal disease as well as to chronic dialysis. The aim of the present study was to assess the degree of upper-limb disability, and its determinants, in a group of patients on chronic HD to determine functional capacity and the need for rehabilitative treatment.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We studied 97 HD patients (46 male, 51 female) with a mean age of 64.4 years, and 51 healthy controls. The Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (DASH) Outcome Measure was used to clinically assess degree of disability as well as finger function and movement.
RESULTS: For study purposes, patients were divided into 3 groups according to the duration of dialysis: 10 years. The median DASH score was 9.5 (interquartile range [IQR]: 3.4-24.1) in the entire population. However, it differed significantly in the 3 dialysis groups with scores of 5.2 (IQR: 2.6-18.1), 14.7 (3.4-23.7), and 37.5 (9.5-73.3) in the 10 year groups, respectively (p < .001). Additionally, disability correlated with shoulder and hand pain and with finger stiffness. Moreover, patients on dialysis for more than 10 years were affected by pain involving several upper limb joints. All patients who worked had a DASH score lower than 20. The median DASH score was 2.6 (IQR: 0.9-5.2) in the control group.
CONCLUSION: Duration of dialysis is associated with progressive disability. Thus, early rehabilitation programs are recommended in patients who are expected to undergo long-term dialysi
