    Assessment of neuroactive steroid formation in diabetic rat spinal cord using high-performance liquid chromatography and continuous flow scintillation detection

    The combination of pulse-chase experiments with high-performance liquid chromatography and continuous flow scintillation detection was used successfully to determine the effects of chronic diabetes on neurosteroid production in the adult rat spinal cord. The long-term diabetes was induced by treatment of adult rats with streptozotocin. In the first part, the review provides an extensive description of the HPLC combined with continuous flow scintillation detection method, its advantages and appropriateness for the question investigated. Afterwards, the paper shows that progesterone formation is up-regulated in the spinal cord of diabetic rats while the biosynthesis of tetrahydroprogesterone decreased. The downregulation of tetrahydroprogesterone appeared as a mechanism facilitating progesterone accumulation in the spinal cord of streptozotocin-treated rats. Progesterone is well known to be a potent neuroprotective steroid. Enhancement of its biosynthesis may be an endogenous mechanism triggered by neural cells in the spinal tissue to cope with degenerative effects provoked by chronic diabetes. Since steroid metabolism in the spinal cord is pivotal for the modulation of several neurobiological processes including sensorimotor activities, the data analyzed herein may constitute useful information for the development of efficient strategies against deleterious effects of diabetes on the nervous system

    En 1929, le Laboratoire de Paléontologie du Muséum national d\u27Histoire naturelle fit l\u27acquisition de quelques ossements trouvés, l\u27année précédente, dans la carrière de gypse Massa et Bleneau, à Gagny (Seine-et-Oise).Ces ossements, enfouis à 18 mètres de profondeur, proviennent certainement de la masse supérieure du gypse, c\u27est-à-dire du niveau classique de Montmartre, qui a fourni à CUVIER les éléments de ses classiques études.En disposant ces pièces selon leurs connexions naturelles, nous avons pu reconstituer la patte antérieure droite d\u27un Artiodactyle, de la famille des Anoplothérides, appartenant sans conteste au genre Diplobune.</p

    A critical appraisal of the misoprostol removable, controlled-release vaginal delivery system of labor induction

Finding strategies to increase rate and decrease time to vaginal delivery is an important goal, but maternal or neonatal safety must remain the primary objective. Misoprostol is a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin used off label to ripen the cervix and induce labor. The misoprostol vaginal insert (MVI) was designed to allow a controlled-release delivery of misoprostol (from 50 to 200&nbsp;&micro;g) with a removal tape. The objective of this review was to make a critical appraisal of this device referring to the literature.Methods: A literature search was performed in the PubMed and Cochrane databases using the keywords &ldquo;vaginal misoprostol insert&rdquo;.Results: Several studies compared different doses of MVI (50, 100, 150, and 200&nbsp;&micro;g) with the 10&nbsp;mg dinoprostone insert. The 100&nbsp;&micro;g MVI compared with the dinoprostone vaginal insert (DVI) showed similar efficacy and no significant differences in cesarean delivery rate. MVI 200&nbsp;&micro;g compared with DVI showed a reduced time to vaginal delivery and oxytocin need but had an increased risk of uterine hyperstimulation. The rate of hyperstimulation syndrome was two to three times more frequent with the 200&nbsp;&micro;g MVI than the 100&nbsp;&micro;g.Conclusion: Current data suggest that the 100&nbsp;&micro;g MVI would provide the best balance between efficacy and safety.     Graulichite-(La), LaFe33+(AsO4)(2)(OH)(6), a new addition to the alunite supergroup from the Patte d'Oie mine, Bou Skour mining district, Morocco

    The new mineral species graulichite-(La), ideally LaFe33+(AsO4)(2)(OH)(6), has been discovered in the Patte d'Oie mine, Bou Skour mining district, Morocco. It occurs as yellow rhombohedral crystals, up to 0.1 mm in size, with a resinous luster, associated with malachite, agardite(La), conichalcite, and a still undetermined REE carbonate. Crystals are chemically zoned and two homogeneous domains were identified, corresponding to the empirical chemical formulae (calculated on the basis of 6 cations per formula unit, assuming the occurrence of 14 O atoms) (La0.34Ce0.20Ca0.11Sr0.07Pb0.05K0.04)(Sigma 0.81)(Fe2.163+Al0.84Cu0.20)(Sigma 3.20)(As1.23P0.39S0.37)(Sigma 1.99)O14H6.13 (domain #1) and (La0.38Ce0.22Sr0.10Ca0.09Pb0.05K0.06)(Sigma 0.90)(Fe2.603+Al0.49Cu0.20)(Sigma 3.29)(AS(0.91)P(0.50)S(0.40))(Sigma 1.81) O14H6.53 (domain #2). Single-crystal unit-cell parameters are a = 7.252(13), c = 16.77(3) angstrom, V = 764(3) angstrom(3), space group R-3m. The eight strongest reflections in the observed X-ray powder diffraction pattern are (d in angstrom, visually estimated intensity): 5.86, medium; 3.045, strong; 2.511, medium-weak; 2.239, medium; 1.960, medium-weak; 1.813, medium-weak; 1.689, medium-weak; 1.478, medium. Graulichite-(La) belongs to the dussertite group within the alunite supergroup. It is the La analogue of graulichite-(Ce) and the Fe3+ analogue of arsenoflorencite-(La)

Il permet à son utilisateur de spécifier et vérifier des propriétés de type "Typestate". Ces propriétés visent à préciser, pour un objet d'un certain type de données, quelles opérations peuvent s'appliquer à lui en fonction de son état courant. Pour cela, le greffon introduit une extension d'ACSL, le langage de spécification standard de Frama-C, et instrumente le programme original avec des annotations ACSL classiques, afin d'utiliser les analyseurs Frama-C habituels pour la vérification

    Spécification et vérification de propriétés Typestates avec Frama-C

    Version longue d'un article qui devrait être publié dans la conférence AFADL 2024 (approches Formelles pour l'Assistance au Développement de Logiciels)Les logiciels pour systèmes critiques nécessitent des garanties fortes de sûreté et de sécurité, un bogue pouvant avoir de lourdes conséquences. Nous avons donc besoin de méthodes de vérification puissantes, comme les méthodesformelles. Frama-C est une plateforme open-source d’analyse formelle de code C, développée au CEA-List. Elle est accompagnée par ACSL, un langage de spécification formelle basé sur les contrats de fonctions.Récemment, un greffon Frama-C a été réalisé pour vérifier des propriétés Typestates, qui restreignent les opérations possibles sur une structure de données, en fonction de son état courant. Ce greffon instrumente le programme original avec du code fantôme et des contrats ACSL, afin d’utiliser les analyseurs standard de Frama-C. L’objectif principal de la thèse est de proposer une formalisation de cette instrumentation et de prouver sa correction. Pour cela, nous nous appuyons sur le méta-langage Skel, l’outil Necrocoq, et l’assistant de preuve Coq
