Based on the interview with the author, they were written in the 1980s. Red, green, and black ink are used in the manuscripts. The red and green ink are used to highlight key words and phrases. There are frequent insertions of Arabic phrases, which include quranic quotations and opening and closing formulae. The manuscripts contain several poems written by Serigne Mouhammadou Masokhna Lo, including a biographical eulogy of Serigne Mor Mbaye Cisse, a renowned Murid scholar and educator who lived and taught in Diourbel; and criticisms of social problems such as lack of discipline and good behavior, disorderly conduct, adultery, the negative consequences of alcoholism among men, women, young and old, and among leaders and their followers. The materials also include historical accounts of the five year long construction of the mosque of Diourbel (Jumaay Ndiaareem) using chronograms; the discussion between Serigne Modou Moustapha (who led the effort) and the French engineer responsible for the construction on the equipment needed; the construction of the railway between Diourbel and Touba; the personal qualities of Serigne Bassirou Mbacke; a tribute to Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba and to Serigne Mbacke Madina; the motivation of 28 kaamil (copies of the Qur'an) written by Serigne Fallou Mbacke for his father and spiritual guide Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba; and a tribute to Serigne Bousso, among others. The materials also contain a poem on coffee and its benefits.

Some images are difficult to read due to the poor condition of both the originals, which have ink stains, and the writing (especially those entirely written with black inks). New Roads for Patron-Driven E-books:Collection Development and Technical Services Implications of a Patron-Driven Acquisitions Pilot at Rutgers

Too often, required resources are not purchased, while some purchased resources do not circulate. E-books selected through patron-driven plans are a solution but present new challenges for both selectors and catalogers. Radical changes to traditional technical services workflows are required, and selectors must modify the selection process to give more choice to the user. Using X-ray derived charge densities to detect electron delocalization effects and non-covalent interactions
No full textBeing based on a quantum observable and measurable quantity, the Electron Density (ED) based descriptors retain the advantage of enabling a direct comparison of theoretical predictions with experimental results. We review here our most recent work aimed at evaluating whether two of such descriptors, the Source Function, SF, [1] and the Reduced Density Gradient (RDG), are able to unveil electron delocalization effects (EDEs) and non covalent interactions (NCI), respectively.
Making use of ab-initio EDs, we recently proved that the SF clearly detects EDEs in a series of supposedly electron-conjugated compounds [2]. That study is here extended to molecular crystals (benzene, a substituted binaphtyl-2-ol, citrinin), whose ED is derived from X-ray diffraction data. Regardless of the ED origin, the SF appears a useful tool to study fine details of EDEs, and independently from any symmetry constraint (e.g. / separation of the ED).
A novel NCI descriptor, based on the RDG and enabling an easy-to-catch image of either the supposedly attractive (dispersive, hydrogen bonding) or allegedly repulsive (steric) interactions, was recently proposed [3]. We have applied [4] this same tool to experimentally-derived ED’s of molecular solids (austdiol, benzene, famotidine), and discussed its performance in synergy with Bader’s analysis. We have also explored [5] the amount and type of information that is lost when the IAM replaces the “true” ED in evaluating the RDG.
