AN ANALYSIS OF THE GLOBAL CODE OF ETHICS FOR TOURISM IN THE CONTEXT OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The author analyzes the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism in the context of corporate social responsibility and the need for discussing this topic in ethical codes within the business and tourism sector. Contemporary armed conflicts ethics on the example of the conflict in Afghanistan
The paper deals with the use of modern systems and the morality of their use on the example of the armed conflict in Afghanistan. The use of modern systems such as combat drones and smart bombs are increasingly being used in today's conflicts. The mentioned systems are most often used in urban areas, where it is very difficult to implement clear proportionality and discrimination based on the theory of just war and international laws of war. Changes in the methods of operation as well as the increased destructive power of means and systems that are applied to long-distance remotely guided targets give security to our soldiers, however, the moral agent on the ground is lost. The means that have been placed in the hands of man have incalculable consequences on the life of civilians in the area of armed conflict, but also on the morality of active participants. The asymmetry of the relationship of forces in an armed conflict additionally affects changes in the methods of application of the available resources as well as in the modification of the methods of action, calling into question the morality of the armed conflict based on the traditional theory of just war
PRIVATE MILITARY COMPANIES AND JUST WAR THEORY : CASE STUDY: SIERRA LEONE
This paper examines the operations of private military companies (PMCs) in the civil war in Sierra Leone and their moral analysis within the framework of The just war theory. The aim of the study is to integrate the PMCs into the context of The just war theory through thematic units related to the PMC phenomenon, the civil war in Sierra Leone and the moral issue of conflict. The research methodology employs analytical, descriptive, quantitative, and contextual analysis approaches. The discussion encompasses five key themes that link PMCs and The just war theory, namely financing, regulation, righteous intention, reasonable expectation of success and discrimination. Furthermore, the paper presents hypotheses regarding the possibility of integrating PMCs into The just war theory and the potential moral legitimacy of PMC actions as international actors. The contribution of this paper lies in bridging contemporary topics of PMCs and The just war theory, offering a fresh perspective that has been insufficiently explored in the academic communit
“THE WESTPHALIAN MYTH” IN THE CONTEXT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CONCEPT OF THE INTERNATIONAL ORDER
This thesis presents some of the fundamental problems the discipline of international relations faces, using the example of the "Westphalian myth". The origin, beginning, development and sustainability of the narrative that has marked the discipline of international relations, the socalled "Peace of Westphalia" is being thematized and it is questioned whether this narrative is in fact a "Westphalian myth" and how, when, where and why it was created. Furthermore, through the discussion of the "Westphalian myth", the context of the development of the concept of the international order is analyzed by thematizing its most important principles and concepts in historical and political perspective. Showcases of the nature and the effects of the international order are presented also. It is demonstrated throughout the thesis that the "Peace of Westphalia" as well as the "Westphalian system" are not well grounded in history or in international political practice. A critique of the conclusions derived from this disciplinary myth has been laid out, particularly in the sense of which obstacles exist in the further thinking about, and taking part in the field of International Relations and the international politic
Carr kao Tukididov “ghostwriter”: paradoks realizma i moralna vanjska politika
The subject of this paper is to examine the role of morality in foreign policy decision making and action, while its goal is to argue that (1) morality plays an important role in the creation of foreign policy, and (2) that it is not possible to formulate a credible and intelligible foreign policy decision without moral considerations. In order to argue this point the author relies on the theoretical framework set by Edward Hallet Carr in his groundbreaking book The Twenty Years Crisis (1946), and reinforce his conclusions with an examination of one of the pivotal passages of Thucydides’ History of the Peloponnesian War, the famous Funeral Oration delivered by the Athenian statesman Pericles. In conclusion, the author claims that even in international relations are completely amoral, as they are in the realist account, that foreign policy cannot be, due to the inability of formulating foreign policy without moral considerations.
Broken contract. An ethical inquiry into shame
Ukratko, “drugu stranu” može predstavljati svaka zbilja koja u umu prekršitelja može predstavljati onog “drugog”.The phenomenon of shame can be analysed with the apparatus of natural and social sciences, and humanities. Philosophical discussions about the phenomenon and emotion of shame extend across a wide range of disciplines, from metaphysics and anthro-pology, to the social and political disciplines. An ethical analysis of shame can be meta-ethical, meaning that the concept of ‘shame’ would be analyzed in terms of its usage in our moral language; descriptive, meaning that we would ask questions about the moral context in which people feel shame. Also, shame can be the subject matter of individual ethics, as it refers to the development of per¬sonal conscience, or social ethics, as it refers to social moral con¬demnation of certain acts, inasmuch as the person responsible for them becomes aware of their moral quality through the feeling of shame. In this text, the author approaches the subject through the context of normative ethics, thus attempting to answer the question: When is it proper to feel shame? In order to answer this question, the author invokes the ethical and political social contract tradition. The answer that he attempts to defend says that the proper occasion to feel shame is in those instances in which an individual breaks an explicit or implicit, written or verbal contract with the other. “The other” can be the whole of society, God, nature and the planet, one’s gender, one’s self. In short, “the other” can be any reality that can be represented as “another” in the mind of the person breaking the contract

War Against the "Empire of Lies": The Moral-Eschatological Perspective in Alexandr Dugin's Geopolitical Thought and Putin's "Special Military Operation"
The subject of the paper is the relationship between Putin's justification of the war in Ukraine, as well as his foreign policy and geopolitical views, with the geopolitical thought of Russian philosopher Alexandr Dugin. Since the beginning of the "special military operation" in February 2022 there has been a surge in interest for understanding Dugin's geopolitical views and the Russian world-historical mission, his Eurasianism, because of which the already controversial "Putin's brain" has become widely read in the West. While the parallels between Dugin's claims and Putin's, as well as Kremlin-issued statements in general, is staggering, the paper aims to show their ideological connections, rather than any possible personal relations between them. The goal of the paper is philosophical, and consists of highlighting the moral eschatological characteristics of Dugin's geopolitical thought and his critique of the West, as well as the complementary characteristics of Putin's justification of the war in Ukraine. Subsequently, the paper offers their critique in light of the relationship between Dugin's geopolitical and eschatological determinism on the one hand, and on the other, his neglect of the freedom of action and decision making which are precluded by his determinism, but are necessary conditions for his moral critique of the West
