    The management of municipal solid waste and the associated environmental and social impacts are subject of growing attention in industrialized countries. The decreasing land availability for waste disposal sites and the changing waste composition increase the urgency for finding a sustainable solution to the waste issue. Then, the role of separate collection is fundamental. Anyway, recent researches have shown that a rate of material recycling beyond 50% implies higher costs. Therefore, a more sustainable Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management system should integrate various technologies and provide for uncertainties that may exist. In literature, many studies have been conducted to this purpose but, sometimes, they don’t adequately cover all the variables that can affect the object of study. The paper aims to make clear on the sustainability – triple bottom line sustainability - of waste management alternatives through a deep systematic review of national and international literature on waste management systems empirical studies.     The goal of this work is to analyse the underlying reasons of the EC Regulations nos. 1924 and 1925 of 2006 which rule the nutrition and health claims used in commercialising some categories of food products. In particular, we investigated the importance of enriched foods, the different types existing in the market and their characteristics that depend on the adding process of specific elements or substances. The commonest enriched foods are produced with small amounts of minerals and vitamins, even though the mentioned EC regulations do not exclude the addition of other substance with beneficial effect for health. Recent studies highlighted that in the labyrinth of diversified food innovations, consumers are not always provided with appropriate information to correctly understand the nutrition label of food products in order to make rational choices according with nutritional requirements. Moreover, just a few years after the introduction of EC Regulations nos. 1924 and 1925 of 2006, the high number of messages conveyed by the advertising of enriched products and the lack of comprehensive legislation make the understanding of nutrition messages more difficult and reduce the consumer protection

    In the second half of the twentieth century, a new paradigm in food consumption emerged, expressed in the quest for low-calorie foods, with the objective of meeting new aesthetic standards, but also countering the development of overweight-related diseases. The food industry has been able to grasp the consumers’ current needs with the introduction of reduced-calorie foods that, unlike other categories of products, have been showing an increasing sales trend. In this paper, after analyzing the specifications, composition and production characteristics of low-calorie food products, we have attempted to clarify the effectiveness of said foods and the way the latter are perceived by consumers, in the light of the developments in the legislation regulating the marketing of reduced-calorie foods
