No full textThe Santa Maria Maggiore Choir factory in Bergamo is an exemplary case that clearly illustrates the combination between artistic vitality and
craftsmanship that distinguishes the history of Italian art. Typologically this artwork, made at the beginning of the 500 by the painter Lorenzo Lotto and the master inlayer Giovan Francesco Capoferri, is characterized by a series of innovative solutions that make it unique. The choir, built in walnut with the exception of coniferous wood structure, brings together in a single plan seating of the clergy, the benches beside the altar where there are celebrants and public representations of the state and the benches of city delegation, placed in the hemicycle of the apse behind the altar. Within the representation of political and civil power, therefore assumes a pre-eminent position with respect to the clergy, it differs considerably from the ecclesiastical tradition. The work is also famous for the 32 inlays representing Old Testament episodes that characterize the backrest. Some of these have already been investigated in previous works [Buratti, 2013; Buratti 2016; Buratti 2017], while this paper focuses on the inlay L’Annunciazione. This writing is to be considered a fundamental tile of a broader research that has as its final aim in construction of contents useful for the communication of a cultural asset that is difficult to see. The inlays, in fact, given the particular positioning on the backrest, are usually covered by a protective tile that does not allow the vision to visitors

With respect to three case study structures, maximum interstorey drift demands obtained by artificial accelerograms are compared with reference drift values obtained from analyses performed using a large number of recorded accelerograms

No full textLe «parole d’arte, d’amore e di guerra» inviate da Domenico Buratti a Vittoria Cocito, pittrice e sua futura moglie, coprono il periodo che va dagli inizi del loro rapporto (marzo 1913) alla cattura di lui nell’ottobre 1917. Si tratta di un epistolario di grossa mole (più di trecento invii in meno di cinque anni), ricchissimo di informazioni di carattere biografico, artistico, storico e culturale, sorretto da una costante tensione sintetica e da una scrittura espressiva e personale. Oltre a contribuire in modo significativo alla ricostruzione di un ambiente intellettualmente vivace come quello della Torino del secondo decennio del Novecento, queste lettere illustrano l’esperienza artistica e umana di Buratti, presentano le idee lo porteranno a farsi editore e offrono uno sguardo imprescindibile sulla sua officina pittorica e poetica: il carteggio contiene infatti dati preziosi sulla genesi delle opere coeve e contiene centinaia di versi, per i quali Vittoria non è solo la lettrice privilegiata, ma anche (e sempre più) la testimone e la consulente del lavorìo verso l’eventuale pubblicazione. La corrispondenza dal fronte restituisce inoltre il coinvolgente ritratto di un intellettuale anomalo travolto dalla Grande Guerra, soldato «semplicissimo» per caparbia scelta. L’edizione – filologicamente accreditata e riccamente annotata in un’ottica multidisciplinare – è stata resa possibile dalla donazione nel 2013 delle carte di Buratti al Centro Interuniversitario per gli Studi di Letteratura Italiana in Piemonte “Guido Gozzano-Cesare Pavese”

New results on optimal (v,4,2,1) optical orthogonal codes
No full textWe investigate further the existence question regarding optimal (v, 4, 2, 1) optical orthogonal codes begun in Momihara and Buratti (IEEE Trans Inform Theory 55:514-523, 2009). We give some non-existence results for infinitely many values of v ≡ ± 3 (mod 9) and several explicit constructions for infinite classes of perfect optical orthogonal codes
