No full textBenjamin Bundy responds to a letter from Thomas Rotch asking if Rotch might board some of his sheep with Bundy, near Mt Pleasant, for the winter. Bundy discusses the costs of boarding 100 animals. Shortly after arriving in Ohio in late 1811, Rotch began letting out some of his valuable merinos to Ohio farmers. Merinos responded to cold weather by doubling their wool, a portion of which was sent to Rotch's woolen factory at Kendal while farmers kept some of the wool for their own use; Few farmers had any knowledge of keeping merinos which were subject to predation by wolves and dogs. Rotch recalled his animals to Kendal around 1815-1816 and with the addition of timothy and rye to his pastures, he succeeded in wintering over many merinos that had not fared well elsewhere in Ohio. Bundy's requirements for the upkeep of one hundred of Rotch's sheep, their feed (hay, corn and salt) plus shearing, transport to Steubenville,and pasturing for a period of not less than two years and not more than four years, 'payments for their maintenance and care to be made yearly, 'around $200 payment in advance. 8" x 9.7" (20.4 by 24.6 cm
Relational Rippling: A General Approach
No full textWe propose a new version of rippling, called relational rippling. Rippling is a heuristic for guiding proof search, especially in the step cases of inductive proofs. Relational rippling is designed for representations in which value passing is by shared existential variables, as opposed to function nesting. Thus relational rippling can be used to guide reasoning about logic programs or circuits represented as relations. We give an informal motivation and introduction to relational rippling. More details, including formal definitions and termination proofs can be found in the longer version of this paper, [ Bundy and Lombart, 1995 ] .
