MFEM: A modular finite element methods library
MFEM is an open-source, lightweight, flexible and scalable C++ library for modular finite element methods that features arbitrary high-order finite element meshes and spaces, support for a wide variety of discretization approaches and emphasis on usability, portability, and high-performance computing efficiency. MFEM's goal is to provide application scientists with access to cutting-edge algorithms for high-order finite element meshing, discretizations and linear solvers, while enabling researchers to quickly and easily develop and test new algorithms in very general, fully unstructured, high-order, parallel and GPU-accelerated settings. In this paper we describe the underlying algorithms and finite element abstractions provided by MFEM, discuss the software implementation, and illustrate various applications of the library.Accepted Author ManuscriptShip Hydromechanics and Structure

Annual Technical Progress Report - West Hackberry Tertiary Project
The West Hackberry Tertiary Project is a field test of the concept that air injection can be combined with the Double Displacement Process to produce a tertiary recovery process that is both low cost and economic at current oil prices. The Double Displacement Process is the gas displacement of a water invaded oil column for the purpose of recovering tertiary oil by gravity drainage. In reservoirs with pronounced bed dip such as those found in West Hackberry and other Gulf Coast salt dome fields, reservoir performance has shown that gravity drainage recoveries average 80% to 90% of the original oil in place while waterdrive recoveries average 50% to 60% of the original oil in place. The target for tertiary oil recovery in the Double Displacement Process is the incremental oil between the 50% to 60% waterdrive recoveries and the 80% to 90% gravity drainage recoveries. Air injection on the west flank began in November of 1994. Although west flank air injection has increased reservoir pressure by 500 pounds per square inch (psi), production response has not yet occurred. The gas cap on the west flank has not expanded sufficiently to push the oil rim down to the nearest downstructure well
the transformation process of the sibling bond throughout life-cycle. It was
developed applying the Grounded Theory Methodology. Open interviews
were used as data collection technique, applied in eight adults, with
different ages, who had one or more siblings. They reported their sibling
experience during childhood, adolescence and adult life. The knowledge,
which emerged from data, revealed that Building a shared memory-
Sharing a built memory is the central phenomena that permeates all the
formation, transformation and maintenance process of the sibling bond. It
explains the sibling bond as a result of an inter-relational process, built and
maintained in the relationship with the sibling, when a mutual and shared
history pennits the individual remits to himself as a unique person, and as a
person who belongs to a family which situates and legitimates hirn.
Adopting Attachrnent Theory, the author discusses how siblings can be
important attahment figures along the developrnent, especially in
childhood and adult life, and algo discusses the characteristics that the
sibling bond can have in each phase, with the possibility of being
transformed and re-meant throughout life-cycle, demonstrating its dynamic
and enduring aspec

As bases teóricas
A rede social pessoal é entendida
A pesquisa mostra, ainda,
do plural ao singularThis paper examines how only children relate to the world, respond and
behave within their social networks. A qualitativa survey was carried out with eight
college young adults who were only children, ranging from 20 to 25 years old, of
which four were mala and four female. Data was collected via interviews and
mapping the participants' social networks. Theoretical support basis employed were
theories and research carried out with only children, theories on relationship building,
theories on systemic networking, theories on differentiation and by isolating relevant
aspects of their adult lives. The aforementioned procedures focused on the individual
placing her or him within different social systems throughout their growth and
individuality, formatting their social network, which was already in placa before birth.
Resulting knowledge denotes a young adult only child who is integrated to his or her
social network while exercising functions proposed by Sluzki (1997): Social circle,
Cognitive and advice guidelines, Material and services aid, and Access to new
contacts. Personal social network is construed as a network of relationships including
core family, extended family, friends, relationship with peers at work and school, as
well as significant community relationships for each participant, encompassing a
virtual network. The author also studied the desire of change of each youngster
regarding their social network and other aspects that pointed towards how they view
their condition as only child. The survey also shows that the social network can stand
for a nourishing network, which enables the only child to establish relationships with
surrogate siblings who do not belong to the core family. Findings are supported by
existing theoretical studies and research that reflect the need for further studies that
can deconstruct firmly established myths that could reinforce the very beliefs of only
children that there are strong and insurmountable difficulties inherent to that
condition. Thus, this paper goes systemically from singular to plural and trom
