Estimating Equilibrium Real Exchange Rates in the Franc Zone
This paper estimates the degree of real exchange rate misalignment in 12 CFA (Communauté Financière Africaine) franc zone countries over the period 1960--99. Allowing for contemporaneous error co-variances, due to observed cross-sectional dependence, we use seemingly unrelated regressions equation estimations to estimate the equilibrium real effective exchange rate and degree of misalignment in each country. We find significant differences across member-states, however, the largest economies--Cameroon, Cte d'Ivoire and Senegal--showed some striking similarities. Just prior to the 1994 devaluation, these three economies were much more overvalued compared with the smaller member-states, some of which were either marginally misaligned or virtually in equilibrium. In 1994, only Cte d'Ivoire is exactly in equilibrium as a result of the devaluation. Our analysis of misalignment for the period after 1994 suggests that some challenges lie ahead for the CFA franc zone, if fixed parity is to be maintained. Copyright 2008 The author 2008. THE TREND OF LOGISTICS OUTSOURCING (3PL) IN SLOVENIAN ORGANIZATIONS
The purpose of this research study is to determine the current situation in logistics outsourcing in Slovenian organizations and to determine the trend of future development. The data was collected using a questionnaire with 500 largest organizations. The data was analyzed using frequency statistics and Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The most important finding was that the level of logistics outsourcing will grow in Slovenia. The growth will be higher in: (a) production organizations compared to service ones, (b) large organizations compared to medium-sized organizations and (c) domestic owned organizations compared to foreign owned organizations. The results are similar with global trends. Logistics outsourcing is important for management, namely because of improved effectiveness and efficiency. The results of the study also are important for management of logistic suppliers to better prepare them for future demands
Perspektiva zunanjega izvajanja poslovnih procesov v slovenskih organizacijah
Business process management (BPM) and business process outsourcing (BPO) play an important role in organizations helping them ensure competitiveness and competitive advantages and increase efficiency and effectiveness. Our study analyzes the role of outsourcing in Slovenian organizations. Data was obtained through a survey and interpreted with descriptive statistics, frequency statistics and Wilcoxon\u27s signed ranks test. According to the results of statistical analysis there is 95% reliability that the degree of outsourcing of business processes in Slovenian organizations will increase and this applies to most business processes. Thus we can conclude that Slovenian organizations are following the trends in global markets and are adjusting to them as well.Menedžment poslovnih procesov (BPM) in zunanje izvajanje poslovnih procesov (BPO) imata pomembno vlogo v organizacijah za zagotavljanje konkurenčnosti in konkurenčnih prednosti ter za povečevanje uspešnosti in učinkovitosti. Z raziskavo analiziramo vlogo zunanjega izvajanja v slovenskih organizacijah.

Innovation Management and an Innovative Ideas System
Innovation Management and an Innovative Ideas System
Innovation management is one of the most important tasks for managers in order to make their organizations successful and efficient. A part of this ranges from innovative employee ideas for small everyday improvements up to innovations that bring enormous savings. The survey tries to determine which factors influence the number of innovative ideas and to propose methods for improvements in this area. The basic research method used was a questionnaire, which helped us gather data and the basic method used for data processing was statistical analysis. First, we established that there is a progressive correlation between the number of innovative ideas submitted in the past and the number of anticipated innovative ideas in the future. Second, we established that the following three factors have an impact on innovation and creativity: (1) work and education; (2) working and living conditions; and (3) rewards and payment. Finally, we have established that there is a correlation between satisfaction with the rewards and payment factor and the current life-cycle stage of organization. To summarize, the level of innovation and creativity of employees is influenced by their overall satisfaction in an organization.</jats:p
Analysis of Increased Information Technology Outsourcing Factors
The study explores the field of IT outsourcing. The narrow field of research is to build a model of IT outsourcing based on influential factors. The purpose of this research is to determine the influential factors on IT outsourcing expansion. A survey was conducted with 141 large-sized Slovenian companies. Data were statistically analyzed using binary logistic regression. The final model contains five factors: (1) management’s support; (2) knowledge on IT outsourcing; (3) improvement of efficiency and effectiveness; (4) quality improvement of IT services; and (5) innovation improvement of IT. Managers immediately can use the results of this research in their decision-making. Increased performance of each individual organization is to the benefit of the entire society. The examination of IT outsourcing with the methods used is the first such research in Slovenia
