Brandi McLeain Interview
No full textBrandi McLeain (Class of 2019) was interviewed by Sriya Reddy via Zoom, an internet-based video conferencing software, on October 21, 2019. During her interview, Ms. McLeain discusses moving around as a child and matters of race relations in her varying school locations. She knew from childhood that she wanted to be an actor and eventually made her way to SMU, pursuing a degree in theatre. Brandi discusses numerous issues of racism and inequality at SMU, including within the theatre department and her classrooms. She describes feelings of not feeling like a Mustang- feelings which persist to this day- especially in comparison to her white counterparts. Brandi brings up the night of the 2016 election and the lack of safety that her and other Black students felt on campus at the time. Reflecting back, she feels that a lack of equal opportunity in conjunction with not truly being seen or listened to on campus limited her success at SMU. The combination of all of these experiences resulted in Brandi graduating from SMU without ever having joyful moments or memories of campus. At the time of the interview, Ms. McLeain lived and worked in the New Haven, Connecticut area and was working on a web series titled ''Black Enough.'

No full textIl saggio approfondisce il contributo di Cesare Brandi alla questione dell’architettura moderna nei centri storici, collocandolo nell’ambito dello stimolante dibattito della seconda metà degli anni ’50 del Novecento. A partire dalla prime riflessioni di Brandi sull’architettura, il saggio si sofferma sulla dettagliata analisi della sua conferenza del 1956, intitolata “Il vecchio e il nuovo nelle città italiane”, e del coevo volume “Eliante o dell’architettura”. Quest’ultimo è approfonditamente riletto, con attenzione anche agli altri personaggi che ne compongono la struttura dialogica, nonché al suo apparato iconografico, scelto dallo stesso Brandi per illustrare i presunti e nefasti effetti dell’inserimento della nuova edilizia negli antichi tessuti. Oltre a Brandi, vengono evidenziate anche le voci degli altri protagonisti di quegli anni e le loro posizioni dialettiche in rapporto al suo radicalismo, tra cui Zevi, Argan, Dorfles, Pane. Ne emerge un quadro straordinariamente ricco di posizioni, la cui tensione intellettuale appare, al contempo, ancora drammaticamente attuale per i tanti nodi irrisolti delle odierne città italiane e nostalgicamente lontana per lo spessore intellettuale delle figure allora coinvolte nel dibattito

No full textIn the following pages, I will use the story of my patient Lee, who I have been treating in my role as his therapist for a period of three and half years. This case study will be used to illustrate the difficulties that service members face when transitioning back into the community. I will also challenge some of the current leading paradigms that are used for treating individuals with symptoms related to their combat experiences. This case will highlight the importance of individualized, culturally competent treatment within the context of a strong therapeutic alliance and the absence of possible secondary gain. Through a person-in-environment and with a historical appreciation, this case will explore Lee's journey in hopes of providing some generalizable knowledge and offer a different way to conceptualize traumatic experiences and individuals' responses to them.DSWIncludes bibliographical referencesby Brandi M. Brandi received her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology from Lander University of Greenwood, South Carolina. Brandi was a Lander Blue Key National Honor Society nominee, and made Lander University Dean’s List. She was an intern at Greenwood and Abbeville County First Steps, and Social Change Initiative, where she became a certified adult and child youth facilitator for National Parents Anonymous Program.
Brandi has participated in numerous research studies. Some of her undergraduate research includes Social Influences on Aggression, Attitudes Toward Illegal Aliens, Effects of Gender on Coffee Drinking Behavior, and Food Discrimination: Effects of Socioeconomic Status on Availability of Fresh Food.

Full text linkEste artículo ofrece una revisión teórica del origen del concepto de restauración en el pensamiento de Brandi proponiendo una crítica centrada en el caso de la restauración de arquitectura. Se perfila el recorrido teórico de Brandi en su aproximación al discernimiento del arte en general y de la arquitectura en particular, centrado alrededor de su Teoria del restauro (1963). A través de la fenomenología, Brandi dedujo la esencia del fenómeno artístico sin hacer partícipe de la restauración a otras realidades humanas que se ven integradas en la existencia de la arquitectura. Su enfoque fue fenomenológico en el método y ontológico en los objetivos. El hecho de que la arquitectura constituya una parte importante del lugar humano, y su condición artística, nos plantea sin embargo como más amplia la cuestión de qué es aquello que constituye este humano habitar y es deseable conservar
