No full textIn seinem Buch verfolgt Marc Borner den Anspruch einer „Aufklärung, Bereicherung und Präzisierung“ des Begriff des präreflexiven Selbstbewusstseins. Seine Arbeit ist nicht als reine Begriffsanalyse zu verstehen, sondern orientiert sich auch an einer hinreichenden Beschreibung und einem verstehenden Erfassen des Phänomens des präreflexiven Selbstbewusstseins. In seiner umfassenden Analyse gelingt es ihm, die Thematik sowohl problemgeschichtlich aufzubereiten, als auch äußerst geschickt als aufeinander aufbauend zu arrangieren: Während er in den ersten drei Kapiteln Ansätze aus der Philosophie (insb. der Phänomenologie) bespricht, wendet er sich im vierten und fünften Kapitel neurobiologischen Ansätzen zu, zwischen denen er mit Hilfe von Daniel Dennetts Unterscheidung der personalen und subpersonalen Beschreibung sowie António Damásios Theorie des Kernbewussstseins und dem Konzept der Emotionen zu vermitteln versucht
