Kata Kunci: Manajemen Dakwah, Ruqyah iv ABSTRACT Da'wah management is a systematic and coordinative arrangement starting from planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the da'wah activities carried out. Management in da'wah institutions is very necessary, because by having good management, goals will be easily achieved. There has been a lot of research on the da'wah management of an institution, but da'wah management in ruqyah da'wah institutions is still rarely carried out. Jam'iyyah Ruqyah Aswaja, which the author abbreviated as JRA, is a da'wah institution that operates in the field of ruqyah treatment. JRA PAC Seputih Mataram has implemented management principles and functions, but there are shortcomings, namely there is no mad'u data collection yet, then the follow-up of da'wah activities is still not organized, sometimes stopping halfway. So this needs to be explored and is interesting to research. So the author intends to find out how the management of JRA PAC Seputih Mataram actually manages its da'wah activities, which is the focus of this research. This research uses qualitative research. The data sources in this research are the raqi and marqi of JRA PAC Seputih Mataram. Then the tools used in this research are interviews in the form of nonstructured interviews, observation and documentation. After the data was collected, the author carried out analysis by carrying out data reduction and data display, then used inductive techniques, namely by drawing conclusions based on specific facts and drawing general conclusions. The results of the research carried out can be seen that the process of Jam'iyyah Ruqyah Aswaja (JRA) da'wah activities in realizing da'wah can be seen as follows: first planning, in planning the da'wah JRA PAC Seputih Mataram continues and follows the planning that has been prepared by the central JRA such as the vision , mission and objectives along with its da'wah activities. Second, organizing, determines the duties of each administrator according to their expertise or competence in that field, but this process cannot be v separated from the approval of JRA PC as the umbrella body of PAC Seputih Mataram. The third implementation was carried out by the chairman of JRA PAC Seputih Mataram by establishing good communication, providing direction and motivation to the administrators. Fourth, evaluations, evaluations are carried out at monthly meetings and annual meetings, discussing da'wah activities that have been carried out by emphasizing weaknesses, obstacles and problems faced, including programs that are not yet running, then evaluations are carried out to find out the performance results of the chairman and administrators. So it can be concluded that the da'wah management at the JRA PAC Seputih Mataram da'wah institution can be said to be good, but it needs to be serious in evaluating da'wah activities so that it can correct deficiencies that have occurred. Using qualitative interview data from young adults in Mainland China (n = 24), the current study explored help-seeking attitudes toward marital therapy. In general, significant relationship problems that participants labeled as communication difficulties, emotional distance, and thoughts of divorce were seen as legitimate reasons to seek out marital therapy. Nearly all participants reported that before seeking out professional services, they would first talk to friends and family members, and only if problems did not abate or continued to be a significant risk to relationship harmony and stability would they be open to seeking out professional services. Finally, the participants generally believed that their family and friends would support their decision to access marital therapy services. The results from this study point to the importance of developing effective, culturally relevant approaches to the treatment of marital distress in Mainland China

Common dyadic coping is indirectly related to dietary and exercise adherence via patient and partner diabetes efficacy

Using cross-sectional data from 117 married couples in which one member is diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, the current study sought to explore a possible indirect association between common dyadic coping and dietary and exercise adherence via the mechanism of patient and spouse reports of diabetes efficacy. Results from the structural equation model analysis indicated common dyadic coping was associated with higher levels of diabetes efficacy for both patients and spouses which, in turn, was then associated with better dietary and exercise adherence for the patient. This model proved a better fit to the data than three plausible alternative models. The bootstrap test of mediation revealed common dyadic coping was indirectly associated with dietary adherence via both patient and spouse diabetes efficacy, but spouse diabetes efficacy was the only mechanism linking common dyadic coping and exercise adherence. This study highlights the importance of exploring the indirect pathways through which general intimate relationship functioning might be associated with type 2 diabetes outcomes

Understanding the decision to marry versus cohabit: the role of interpersonal dedication and constraints and the impact on life satisfaction

The current study explored men's and women's reasons for choosing to marry rather than to cohabit using a national data set (n = 786) of adults who were currently married or had been married previously. Using commitment theory participant's open-ended reasons for choosing to marry were coded into categories of either interpersonal dedication or constraint commitment. A variety of demographic, attitudinal, and relationship history variables were then used to predict commitment type. The influence of commitment type during the decision to marry on life satisfaction was also explored. Results indicate that current marital status (being married vs. being divorced or separated) and cohabiting before marriage were the strongest predictors of interpersonal dedication reasons for marriage for both men and women. Level of conventionality and parents' marital status also emerged as significant predictors of constraint commitment. Finally, marrying for reasons related to interpersonal dedication significantly predicted higher life satisfaction for men but not for women

When caregivers are in need of care: African American caregivers’ preferences for their own later life care

    No full text
To “care for one's own” is a cultural expectation within a larger ethic of care in the African-American community. Applied to caregiving of aging elders, this ethic of care emphasizes the importance of providing in-home family care rather than opting for out-of-home placement. This study explores why a subset of African-American caregivers prefer or are open to out-of-home placement over in-home family care if they are no longer able to care for themselves. In-depth interviews with 24 family caregivers are analyzed. Three themes emerged including the desire to “spare our children” the burden associated with caregiving, viewing the next generation of potential caregivers as unequipped for the task, and having no one left to provide care for them

This study investigates attitudes toward psychological and physical dating violence among college students in mainland China (n = 245). The results of this study indicate that among our sample of college students in mainland China, men and women were relatively similar in their attitudes toward male perpetrated and female perpetrated physical dating violence and female perpetrated psychological dating violence. As has been found in previous research, men and women in our sample were more accepting of female perpetrated physical and psychological dating violence than male perpetrated physical and psychological dating violence. Finally, among several variables that predicted dating violence attitudes, shame emerged as a potentially important variable to include in future studies on dating violence in Chinese populations

Developmental trajectories of marital happiness in continuously married individuals: a group-based modeling approach

    No full text
Most contemporary studies of change in marital quality over time have used growth curve modeling to describe continuously declining mean curves. However, there is some evidence that different trajectories of marital quality exist for different sub-populations. Group-based trajectory modeling provides the opportunity to conduct an empirical investigation of the variance in marital quality trajectories. We applied this method to analyze data from continuously married individuals from the Marital Instability over the Life Course Study (N = 706). Instead of a single continuously declining trajectory of marital happiness, we found 5 distinct trajectories. Nearly two thirds of participants reported high and stable levels of happiness over time, and the other one third showed either a pattern of continuous low happiness, low happiness that subsequently declined, or a curvilinear pattern of high happiness, decline, and recovery. Marital problems, time spent in shared activities, and (to a lesser degree) economic hardship were able to distinguish trajectory group membership. Our results suggest that marital happiness may have multiple distinct trajectories across reasonably diverse populations. Implications for theory, research, and practice are discussed

Marital therapy in mainland China: a qualitative study of young adults’ knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs

This qualitative study explored young adults' knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about marital therapy in Mainland China. Participants (N = 24) were undergraduate and graduate students attending university in Beijing and Guangzhou. Four themes emerged from the data analysis: (1) beliefs regarding marital therapy, (2) role of the therapist, (3) barriers to seeking marital therapy, and (4) greater accessibility to marital therapy. In general, our participants knew little about marital therapy and were concerned that using such services could bring shame to them or to their family and that the cost of such services would be beyond most citizens' means. In addition, participants believed that marital therapists would serve as experts doling out relationship advice, whereas clients would generally take a passive role. Increased government support, alternative forms of treatment that included phone and web-based services as a way to protect anonymity and therefore confidentiality, and government credentialing were seen as steps that could increase the use and accessibility of marital therapy in Mainland China
