RG FLOW IRREVERSIBILITY, C THEOREM AND TOPOLOGICAL NATURE OF 4-D N=2 SYM

    No full text
We determine the exact beta function and a RG flow Lyapunov function for N=2 super-Yang-Mills (SYM) theory with the gauge group SU(n). It turns out that the classical discriminants of the Seiberg-Witten curves determine the RG potential. The radial irreversibility of the RG flow in the SU(2) case and the nonperturbative identity relating the u modulus and the superconformal anomaly indicate the existence of a four-dimensional analogue of the c theorem for N=2 SYM theory which we formulate for the full SU(n) theory. Our investigation provides further evidence of the essentially topological nature of the theory

Amministrazione riformata e nuovo volto della responsabilità amministrativa: dall'esigenza di legittimità alla prospettiva gestionale

    No full text

N=2 gauge theories on unoriented/open four-manifolds and their AGT counterparts

We compute the exact path integral of N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theories with general gauge group on RP4 and a Z(2)-quotient of the hemi-S-4. By specializing to SU(2) superconformal quivers, we show that these, together with hemi-S-4 partition functions, compute Liouville correlators on unoriented/open Riemann surfaces. We perform explicit checks for Riemann surfaces obtained as Z(2) quotients of the sphere and the torus. We also discuss the coupled 3d-4d systems associated to Liouville amplitudes with boundary punctures

Hitchin systems, N=2 gauge theories and W-gravity

AbstractWe propose some arguments supporting an M-theory derivation of the duality recently discovered by Alday, Gaiotto and Tachikawa between two-dimensional conformal field theories and N=2 superconformal gauge theories in four dimensions. We find that AN−1 Toda field theory is the simplest two-dimensional conformal field theory quantizing the moduli of N M5-branes wrapped on a Riemann surface. This leads us to identify chiral operators of the N=2 gauge theories with integrated W-algebra currents. As a check of this correspondence we study some relevant OPE's obtaining that Nekrasov's partition function satisfies W-geometry constraints

NONPERTURBATIVE RELATIONS IN N=2 SUSY YANG-MILLS AND WDVV EQUATION

We find the nonperturbative relation between , the prepotential F and in N = 2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory (SYM) with gauge group SU(3). Nonlinear differential equations for F including the Witten-Dijkgraaf-Verlinde-Verlinde equation are obtained, indicating that N = 2 SYM theories are essentially topological field theories which should be seen as the low-energy limit of some topological string theory. Furthermore, we construct relevant modular invariant quantities, derive canonical relations between the periods, and find the β function in terms of the moduli. In doing this we discuss the uniformization problem for the quantum moduli space

We obtain the exact beta function for N = 2 supersymmetric SU22 Yang-Mills theory and prove the nonperturbative renormalization group equation ∂ΛFa,Λa,Λ = Λ/Λ0Λ/Λ0∂Λ0Fa0,Λ0a0,Λ0×exp[-2τ0τdxβ-1xx]

Eco- compatible technology in building refurbishment

ABSTRACT: The case study, we talk about in our paper, is centred on "Cesarea ex-hospital", a XVII century building at present used as residence. There is a restoration project made by the Naples municipality on this ex- hospital and now it's being carried out. The present state of physical and typological degradation has caused the loss of the functional and aesthetic prestations of the building. Our analysis and proposals of architectural intervention is aim at a global building improvement. For example in our restoration project, we propose to return to the natural ventilation and sunning system today spoiled by dangerous and neglectful superfetations. A part of our communication will be devoted to the examination of the methodology we've studied to outline an appropriate refurbishment project. We believe that methodology is apt to define an item of praxis but the case study obliges to carry out a specific research on the building in object and the environment in which it is. So we recognise three phases of approach to the project: 1) the knowledge phases, based on the building subdivision in FUNCTIONAL SYSTEMS search and prestational valuations aiming at specific themes. 2) definition of objectives and architectural project. 3) examination of the justness of chosen solutions. Our paper describes the intervention hypothesis studied at good level of definition. This part concerns the collection and rescue of meteoric and gray waters to re-employ them for common uses by people living at Cesarea ex-hospital. BIO-FILTERS and BIO-PHITODEPURATION are the techniques utilized to clean used waters, first separated according to their different origin. KEYWORDS: ancient building, methodology, microclima control, prestational analysis, sustainable recovery project

Exact results for N N \mathcal{N} = 2 supersymmetric gauge theories on compact toric manifolds and equivariant Donaldson invariants

We provide a contour integral formula for the exact partition function of N = 2 supersymmetric U(N) gauge theories on compact toric four-manifolds by means of supersymmetric localisation. We perform the explicit evaluation of the contour integral for U(2) N = 2∗ theory on CP2 for all instanton numbers. In the zero mass case, corresponding to the N = 4 supersymmetric gauge theory, we obtain the generating function of the Euler characteristics of instanton moduli spaces in terms of mock-modular forms. In the decoupling limit of infinite mass we find that the generating function of local and surface observables computes equivariant Donaldson invariants, thus proving in this case a longstanding conjecture by N. Nekrasov. In the case of vanishing first Chern class the resulting equivariant Donaldson polynomials are new. © 2016, The Author(s)
