    Importance of the BRICS for Foreign Trade of India: An Empirical Analysis Using RCA Index

    The term BRICS represents a coalition of the five prominent emerging economies. Which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa shortly calls BRICS. These countries play significant roles in shaping the regional and global dynamics through their cooperation on various economic and political matters. The group’s strategic trade and investment policies, along with their collaborative efforts, contribute to their stable economic growth and competitive standing in the global economy. Focusing on trade cooperation within BRICS, this article examines the foreign trade flows between the India and the other BRICS nations. It highlights comparative (relative) advantage of India in specific products for BRICS markets, as well as its comparative advantage for global markets, while analyzing the role of BRICS in India's foreign trade. The finding of the study indicates that India faces competitive disadvantage in certain products in the global market but enjoys a comparative advantage in these same products when India trading with BRICS countries. Hence, this study conclude that BRICS has a significant importance in the foreign trade of India
