Genus Cybaeus L. Koch 1868 Amaurobius (in part) C.L. Koch 1839: 43, fig. 462. Cybaeus L. Koch 1868: 46, figs 22–25. Chamberlin & Ivie 1932: 3; Roewer 1954: 88; Bonnet 1956: 1299; Roth & Brame 1972: 19, figs 6, 10, 20, 27–28; Brignoli 1983: 484; Roth & Brown 1986: 3, 12; Platnick 1989: 406; Copley et al. 2009: 372, figs 1–113; Bennett et al. 2016: 5, figs 1–189; Bennett et al. 2019, figs 1–71; World Spider Catalog 2020. Parauximus Chamberlin 1919: 2, plate I, fig. 2. Namopsilus Chamberlin 1919: 14, plate VI, fig. 1. Type species. Amaurobius tetricus C.L. Koch 1839. Note. See Copley et al. (2009) for genus diagnosis and descriptive details as well as a key to the species groups (females only) of the Holarctic and Californian clades of Cybaeus. See Bennett et al. (2016, 2019) for, respectively, revisions of the Nearctic species of the Holarctic clade and of the adenes group of the Californian clade of Cybaeus. Bennett (2005, 2017) provided keys to all Nearctic genera then classified in Cybaeidae. Males of Cybaeus species often are difficult to assign to particular species groups. When in doubt about the group affiliation of male specimens, explore the keys to the species in the tetricus and angustiarum groups of the Holarctic clade (Bennett et al. 2016) and the key to species in the adenes group of the Californian clade (Bennett et al. 2019) or consider one of the four other Californian clade species groups (consocius, devius, septatus, and tardatus groups) discussed by Bennett (1991) and Copley et. al. (2009).Published as part of Bennett, Robb, Copley, Claudia & Copley, Darren, 2021, Cybaeus (Araneae: Cybaeidae): the aspenicolens species group of the Californian clade, pp. 224-244 in Zootaxa 4926 (2) on page 225, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4926.2.4, http://zenodo.org/record/450608

    Plagiarism: concepts and contexts

    No full text
After outlining the key difficulties in modern literature on academic plaigarism, the author suggests that these may be resolved by a new model of plaigarism (whilst noting that this new model does raise additional uncertainties, e.g. as to the status of 'self plagiarism') that she has developed

    Dictionary of Acoustics

    No full text
The science and technology of acoustics embraces an unusually wide range of disciplines, from aircraft noise reduction to ultrasonics in medicine, from psychoacoustics to signal processing. The student of acoustics has to become familiar with a corresponding range of specialist terms in order to communicate with others and to understand the literature. Here, in one informative dictionary, for the first time, are listed accurate and helpful definitions to provide the student - or the specialist from another discipline - with a point of entry into the world of acoustics. The dictionary's 2,800 entries cover most of the essential concepts and terminology that the practicing acoustician needs to understand, outside the subfields of music and speech communication. The author has drawn on experience gained during a long career spent mostly at Southampton University's multidisciplinary Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, supplemented by the expertise and perspective of a team of subject specialists

Electrically generated indistinguishable and entangled photon pairs

We present measurements on electrically generated photons from a quantum dot in an LED structure, showing high entanglement fidelity and two-photon interference visibility, both necessary requirements for scalable quantum communication and logic

Also By The Same Author: AKTiveAuthor, a Citation Graph Approach to Name Disambiguation

    No full text
The desire for definitive data and the semantic web drive for inference over heterogeneous data sources requires co-reference resolution to be performed on those data. In particular, name disambiguation is required to allow accurate publication lists, citation counts and impact measures to be determined. This paper describes a graph-based approach to author disambiguation on large-scale citation networks. Using self-citation, co-authorship and document source analyses, AKTiveAuthor clusters papers, achieving precision of 0.997 and recall of 0.818 over a test group of eight surname clusters
