Tethys Inc. Alpheus 3.0 : Technical Report

    No full text
This 13-page report, published by Tiyan High School, describes the design and construction of Alpheus 3.0, an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV). This report was created by Tethys Inc., a student group that participated in the 2021 MATE ROV competitions Ranger class. MATE ROV is a global underwater robotics competition for STEM students. The competition includes Explorer, Ranger, Navigator, and Scout classes. In the report, an abstract introduces the group and project. A project management section then details the workflow. The report then explores the design rationale, which includes information on the chassis, motors, cameras, gripper, micro ROV, and control box. A systems interconnected diagram is then presented. The report also considers safety, troubleshooting, and challenges. Finally, the group reflects on the project, considers future improvements, provides acknowledgments, lists references, and ends with two budgetary tables. Manuals for each class and technical documentation from other teams are available to view separately

Educational attainment and employment income: A study on the relationship of educational attainment to the salary of employed residents of Pasay City

    No full text
The purpose of this study is to identify whether educational attainment affects the salary of employed residents in Pasay City. The data used were gathered from the community-based monitoring system (CBMS) of the Phuilippines. The purpose of the study was achieved by using the correlational research design, specifically explanatory research and by using the multinomial logistic regeression limited only to two variables, which are educational attainment and salary. This study was based on Michael Spence\u27s signalling theory. In the course of the research, the researchers were limited in terms of having access to the data given by the CBMS. From this whole process, the researchers found out that there is a positive relationship between the two identified variables namely educational attainment and salary, the salary increases as the educational attainment of an individual increases. The group limited the scope of the study to the employed residents of Pasay City since it is the city that has the most complete data in the record of CBMS

Demonstration of safety and enhanced seroprotection against hepatitis B with investigational HBsAg-1018 ISS vaccine compared to a licensed hepatitis B vaccine

Adults 40 years of age and older have been shown to be hypo-responsive immunologically to the currently available hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccines. Three intramuscular doses of a Toll-like receptor 9 agonist, 1018 immunostimulatory sequence (1018 ISS) adjuvant, combined with recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) demonstrated faster, superior, and more durable seroprotection than three doses of a licensed comparator HBV vaccine (Engerix-B(®)). This investigational vaccine, HBsAg-1018 ISS, was well tolerated with a safety profile similar to the comparator vaccine. These results suggest that HBsAg-1018 may be more effective in this hypo-responsive populationope
