Author Functions in Lars Kepler\u27s The Hypnotist: An Analysis
This paper examines Foucault\u27s notion of the author function as it pertains to Lars Kepler\u27s bestselling 2011 crime thriller, The Hypnotist. Lars Kepler is the pseudonym of a Swedish husband-wife writing duo, making him the perfect subject for analysis centering on illusory notion of the author. This paper will answer these questions: Who is the true author of The Hypnotist? What factors influence the author function of this bestelling novel? And what can The Hypnotist phenomenon tell us about the relationships between authors and their readers? This paper will demonstrate that no literary works may be ascribed to an individual person, and that authors hold no privileged knowledge of the works they produce, because authors cease to be authors the moment pen is lifted from page
Carsharing: A literature review and a perspective for information systems research
Private car ownership in the context of the ongoing urbanization is creating challenges concerning environmental pollution, high energy costs, and limited and expensive parking. As a reaction to these negative impacts, companies are developing new mobility alternatives to private car ownership. One alternative is carsharing that provides individuals with cars from a fleet on an as-needed basis. To create a conceptual structuring of the topic of carsharing, we conduct a literature review identifying 93 articles and six concepts, i.e., market analysis, location, travel behavior, information systems, electric carsharing, and sustainability. Findings are discussed and implications for information systems research are given
An Urban Economic Model over a Continuous Plane with Spatial Characteristic Vector Field - Consideration of Heterogeneous Geographical Conditions -
Among others Beckmann (1952) firstly introduced the concept of a two dimensional continuous space into economics. This great step had unfortunately not shown further expansion in economics. Through several papers related to Beckmann's initiation, Beckmann and Puu (1985) at last reached a systematic treatment of the continuous spatial economics. Although their achievement is fascinated by employing a partial differential equations approach, Beckmann's original philosophy, that is, the gradient law has still been inherited. Following their achievement, Puu (2003) alone developed their theory by using many computer simulations to visually show the significance of their theory. Beckmann and Puu's book (1985) aims to study formation of urban configuration in a two dimensional continuous space, focusing on flows of commodities. However, consideration of households and firms location is not necessarily sufficient, resulting in reconsideration from a new urban economics point of view. As another exceptional urban economic study of a plane city, Lucus and Rossi-Hansberg (2002) is pointed out. They were inspired by Fujita and Ogawa (1982), and indicate endogenous land use pattern over a plane city. However they neglect commodity market to simplify the analysis. Well discussion about formation of urban configuration is summarized in Anas, Arnott, and Small (1998). Differing from Beckmann and Puu's studies, Miyata (2010) introduces bid rent functions (Fujita (1989)), which are familiar in the new urban economics, for land of households and firms, and then it studies how the results of Beckmann and Puu are rigorously modified by using the theory of partial differential equations (Courant and Hilbert (1953, 1962). However Miyata (2010) deals with a symmetric equilibrium which seems to be a little unrealistic. This article extends the author's previous study introducing spatial characteristic vector field in the model which stands for heterogeneity in geographical conditions in a city, and try to show asymmetry in land use pattern and endogenous formation of transport networks in a two dimensional continuous space.

Structure-reactivity correlations of the abnormal Beckmann reaction of dihydrolevoglucosenone oxime
A structural, spectroscopic and computational study of a series of oximes was undertaken to investigate how geometric and structural changes relevant to the reaction coordinate for the Beckmann reaction (normal Beckmann) and Beckmann fragmentation (abnormal Beckmann) manifest in the ground state. X-ray structures of a range of oximes derived from dihydrolevoglucosan (Cyrene™; which undergoes the abnormal Beckmann reaction), in which the oxygen substituent was systematically varied were determined. As the electron demand of the OR group increased, the major structural changes included lengthening of the N-OR bond distance, and a decrease in the magnitude of the C2[double bond, length as m-dash]N-O bond angle, consistent with the changes seen for cyclohexanone oximes, which undergo the normal Beckmann reaction. However, unique to the Cyrene oximes, an increase in the length of the fissile C1-C2 bond was observed, which correlated with a decrease in the 13C-13C 1-bond coupling constants as the electron demand of the OR substituent increased. Computational studies of Cyrene and cyclohexanone oximes using Natural Bond Orbital analysis support an electronic structure involving n(O) → σ*C1-C2 and σC1-C2 → σ*N-O localized orbital interactions
