A Low Mach Number IMEX Flux Splitting for the Level Set Ghost Fluid Method
Considering droplet phenomena at low Mach numbers, large differences in the magnitude of the occurring characteristic waves are presented. As acoustic phenomena often play a minor role in such applications, classical explicit schemes which resolve these waves suffer from a very restrictive timestep restriction. In this work, a novel scheme based on a specific level set ghost fluid method and an implicit-explicit (IMEX) flux splitting is proposed to overcome this timestep restriction. A fully implicit narrow band around the sharp phase interface is combined with a splitting of the convective and acoustic phenomena away from the interface. In this part of the domain, the IMEX Runge-Kutta time discretization and the high order discontinuous Galerkin spectral element method are applied to achieve high accuracies in the bulk phases. It is shown that for low Mach numbers a significant gain in computational time can be achieved compared to a fully explicit method. Applications to typical droplet dynamic phenomena validate the proposed method and illustrate its capabilities.Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation)Germa
A data-driven high order sub-cell artificial viscosity for the discontinuous Galerkin spectral element method
In this work, we present a novel higher-order smooth artificial viscosity method for the discontinuous Galerkin spectral element method and related high order methods. A neural network is used to detect the need for stabilization. Inspired by techniques from image edge detection, the neural network locates discontinuities inside mesh elements on a sub-cell level. Once the sub-cell positions of the shock fronts have been identified, the use of radial basis functions enables the construction of a high order smooth artificial viscosity field on quadrilateral meshes. We show the superiority of using higher order smooth artificial viscosity over piecewise linear approaches in particular on coarse meshes. The capabilities of the novel method are illustrated with typical applications. (c) 2021 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved

Accentuation of Jonas Rėza's Psalter of 1625
Straipsnyje trumpai apžvelgiama dabartinių kalbų kirčio ženklų istorija – nuo Antikos kalbininko Aristofano Bizantiečio žymėtų akūto, gravio ir cirkumflekso iki Mažvydo Katekizme pažymėto į riestinį cirkumfleksą panašaus ženklo, Baltramiejaus Vilento raštų, D. Kleino gramatikos, J. Rėzos psalmyno ,,Psalteras Dowido“ kirčio ženklų. Išsamiau straipsnyje analizuojamas 1625 m. J. Rėzos psalmyno kirčiavimas, iš graikų perimti kirčio ženklai, paties autoriaus įsivestas kirčio ženklas. Straipsnyje taip pat aptariama Rėzos psalmyne vartotų kirčio ženklų funkcijos, kirčio ženklų vartojimo įvairavimas, sąsajos tarp psalmyno kirčiavimo ir D. Kleino gramatikos Reikšminiai žodžiai: Akūtas; Gravis; Cirkumfleksas; Psalmynas; Lietuvių kalbos istorija; KirčiavimasThis article gives a brief overview of the history of the accent marks of languages from Antiquity linguist Aristophanes of Byzantium marked the acute accent, grave accent and circumflex accent until the sign similar to a tilde-shaped circumflex marked in Mažvydas’ Catechism, and accent signs of Baltramiejus Vilentas’ writings, Daniel Klein‘s grammer, and Jonas Rhesa’s Psalter of David. The article gives a comprehensive analysis of the accentuation made by Jonas Rhesa in the psalter, accent marks taken from Greek, and an accent mark developed by the author himself. The article also discusses the functions of the accent marks used in Rhesa’s psalter, the variation of the usage of accent marks and the interaction between the accentuation of the psalter and D. Klein’s grammer
Epistemología del riesgo y trama de la vida en tres autores de la modernidad crítica: Jonas, Beck y Giddens / Epistemology of risk and the weave of life in three authors from the critical modernity: Jonas, Beck and Giddens
The article explores the epistemological dimension of risk and its implications in the weave of life and the
future of the living according to three authors of the critique of modernity: Hans Jonas, Ulrich Beck and

One of the identifying elements is the denial of the “not-knowing” that deprives society of its restrictive capacity in face of risk-based decisions and prevents the social control of knowledge, science and technique. This imprint is proposed as one of the characteristic features of coloniality of knowledge and nature together with others such as anthropocentrism, alienating dualism and the unstoppable feature of development and progress due to a temporal linearity than encourages them. Finally, I proposed a scope, limits and links with decolonial thinking

Zygmunt Bauman en Ulrich Beck over 'leven in ambivalentie'
Uncertainty replaces the conviction that rationality may be founded, ultimately.
Comments on and exemplified by Zygmunt Bauman's "Intimations of postmodernity" (1992), the Quality-of-life discussion (Nussbaum & Senn (eds.) 1993) and "reflexive modernization" (Ulrich Beck, 1994).
Uncertainty as a principle leads to the "imperative of responsibility" (Hans Jonas, 1984)
