Prehistoric Ebbsfleet: excavations and research in advance of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link
Full monograph on Palaeolithic/Pleistocene investigations in Ebbsfleet Valley before construction of Channel Tunnel Rail Link. Focuses on development of modern landscape, context of Levalloisian finds, and refinement of understanding of distinctive faunal assemblages of different sub-stages of Marine Isotope 7

Middle Pleistocene molluscan and ostracod faunas from Allhallows, Kent, UK
Although known from the nineteenth century, the terraces of the Medway have been far less frequently described in the literature than those of the Thames. In particular, the well known fossiliferous occurrences of such sites as Swanscombe, Purfleet and Aveley have no counterpart in the Medway, despite the two rivers forming part of the same basin. Here we describe molluscan and ostracod faunas of Middle Pleistocene age from Allhallows, Kent close to the modern confluence of the two rivers, which begin to allow correlation of the Medway terraces with the better known Thames succession
The Pleistocene sequence at Priory Bay, Isle of Wight (SZ 635 900)
The Pleistocene sequence at the cliff-top of Priory Bay is almost certainly the source of the substantial artefact collections made on the beach throughout the 20th century. The artefact-bearing sequence has not only been identified with high confidence, but it has been shown to represent hominin occupation over a prolonged period of the Middle Pleistocene, although of course not necessarily continuously. The sequence includes at least two horizons with mint condition material that may represent undisturbed palaeo-landsurfaces. Artefacts are present throughout most of the sequence, but the main artefact-bearing horizon is tentatively dated to MIS 9. The deposits containing the artefacts are of uncertain, but limited, extent, and are imminently threatened by erosion. They occur at the top of a landslip zone with marine action steadily making incursions at the base, and which last slipped 30–40 years ago, suggesting another slumping event may be imminent. Further work would be desirable to: (a) clarify the extent of the artefact-bearing sediments and whether, and how many, undisturbed horizons are present; (b) determine the geometry of the beds identified at Areas 1 and 2, and clarify the correlations between the sequences at these two areas; and (c) carry out more substantive investigations of the archaeological remains within the deposits to mitigate the impact of the likely imminent cliff collapse. It is also important, if possible, to try and resolve the conflicting interpretations over whether the basal gravel at Area 1 (bed III-A) is a fluvial or a raised beach deposi
Esperienza ed evento della verità. Pratica filosofica e astrazione scientifica nel pensiero di A.N. Whitehead
This article analyzes the relationship between philosophy, experience and event in A.N. Whitehead’s thought. From the critics of the concept of object, the author retraces and describes the peculiar “abstract-concrete dialectic”, at the center of the researches concerning the perceptual experience.
Furthermore, according to Whitehead’s later works, she demonstrates how the philosophical practice is different from all other kinds of science, although it requires science itself because of the co-implication of object and event, abstraction and recognition
Il "Guerrin Meschino" di Gesualdo Bufalino : un'"opra" in versi
Gesualdo Bufalino first published Il Guerrin Meschino in 1991 in a non-commercial edition. In 1993, after a deep revision, he re-published his work with publisher Bompiani: the novel has a modified plot, and the author decided to insert three new poems in addition to the opening and closing poems, formerly present in 1991’s edition. This paper, in its entirety supported by handwritten material preserved at Fondazione Gesualdo Bufalino (Comiso), is divided in two parts: the first part illustrates the differences between the first and the second edition, the second part provides a critical edition of the five poems
