The structures of the Pd(H2O)(2)(NO3)(2), PdCl42-, PtCl42- anions, in aqueous solutions, have been determined using LAXS technique. Pd(II) and Pt(II) cations coordinate four ligands with square -planar geometry. The Pd atom, in Pd(H2O)(2)(NO3)(2), coordinates two H2O molecules and two oxygen atoms from two NO3- groups like in the solid state. The mean distance Pd-H2OI is found to be 2.02 Angstrom and the mean disctance Pd-O-I (from nitrate group) is found to be 2.0 Angstrom. In the case of the complex PdCl42- and the complex PtCl42- the distance metal-CI is found to be 2.315 Angstrom. The isomorphic substitution for separating specific interactions is used
