SAHIN, ZAFER/0000-0002-5976-676X; Berk, Barkin/0000-0001-6047-2796WOS: 000484830900001PubMed: 31475759The antioxidant, antimalarial, antibacterial, and antitumor activities of thiosemicarbazones have made this class of compounds important for medicinal chemists. in addition, thiosemicarbazones are among the most potent and well-known ribonucleotide reductase inhibitors. in this study, 24 new thiosemicarbazone derivatives were synthesized, and the structures and purity of the compounds were determined by IR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, mass spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. the IC50 values of these 24 compounds were determined with an assay for ribonucleotide reductase inhibition. Compounds 19, 20, and 24 inhibited ribonucleotide reductase enzyme activity at a higher level than metisazone as standard. the cytotoxic effects of these compounds were measured on the MCF7 (human breast adenocarcinoma) and HEK293 (human embryonic kidney) cell lines. Similarly, compounds 19, 20, and 24 had a selective effect on the MCF7 and HEK293 cell lines, killing more cancer cells than cisplatin as standard. the compounds (especially 19, 20, and 24 as the most active ones) were then subjected to docking experiments to identify the probable interactions between the ligands and the enzyme active site. the complex formation was shown qualitatively. the ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) properties of the compounds were analyzed using in-silico techniques.Anadolu University Scientific Research Projects CommissionAnadolu University [1609S624]Anadolu University Scientific Research Projects Commission, Grant/Award Number: 1609S62

Acemetacin in Acute and Chronic Pain Management

    No full text
Acemetacin is the carboxymethyl ester of indomethacin and is a pro-drug precursor compound, in other words, a prodrug. The pharmacologically active metabolite of acemetacin is also indomethacin. Acemetacin exerts its potent non-steroidal anti-inflammatory effects in the body as indomethacin. It is known that acemetacin is not only a prodrug of indomethacin, but also an agent with gastric protective mechanisms, possibly involving a reduction in leukocyte adhesion, and that acemetacin exerts gastric protective effects by exhibiting less efficacy on the COX-1 enzyme in the gastric mucosa compared to direct indomethacin use. It is clear that acemetacin is a valuable NSAID for acute and chronic pain. Keywords: Acemetacin, indomethacin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs

Corrigendum: Anemia detection through non-invasive analysis of lip mucosa images

Hydraulic EngineeringCivil Engineering and Geoscience

Conflict-based negotiation strategy for human-agent negotiation

    No full text
Day by day, human-agent negotiation becomes more and more vital to reach a socially beneficial agreement when stakeholders need to make a joint decision together. Developing agents who understand not only human preferences but also attitudes is a significant prerequisite for this kind of interaction. Studies on opponent modeling are predominantly based on automated negotiation and may yield good predictions after exchanging hundreds of offers. However, this is not the case in human-agent negotiation in which the total number of rounds does not usually exceed tens. For this reason, an opponent model technique is needed to extract the maximum information gained with limited interaction. This study presents a conflict-based opponent modeling technique and compares its prediction performance with the well-known approaches in human-agent and automated negotiation experimental settings. According to the results of human-agent studies, the proposed model outpr erforms them despite the diversity of participants’ negotiation behaviors. Besides, the conflict-based opponent model estimates the entire bid space much more successfully than its competitors in automated negotiation sessions when a small portion of the outcome space was explored. This study may contribute to developing agents that can perceive their human counterparts’ preferences and behaviors more accurately, acting cooperatively and reaching an admissible settlement for joint interests.Interactive Intelligenc
