Hydrogeological problems relating to the construction of an underground metro system in Bari urban and suburban areas
Many problems are related to the construction of an underground metro system in Bari urban and suburban areas, excavations involving namely dolomite-limestones in both anhydrous and saturated zones and low-thickness postcretaceous covers. A number of rock-sealing methods are reviewed. Consideration is given to the rock hydrodynamic characteristics of the urban area alongside impacts on groundwater flows.PublishedCernobbioope

Addressing User Engagement With an Interactive Reading Model by Innovative Digital Expansion
The paper presents the research results aimed to design and realize an innovative prototype of user’s interactions method, based on the digital impact that Digital Transformation (DT) has on society. The experimentation presented takes as an example some good practices identified in the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A), London: challenging, unconventional cultural goods could attract new users. Based on this assumption, we have observed a target users’ impact on a cultural good generally considered little appeal, transforming the user into a prosumer. The first tests were made in 2019. The University of Bari Aldo Moro and the De Sanctis Classical Linguistic High School of Human Sciences in Trani started a collaboration as part of a PON project titled "Comunicare e promuovere un evento culturale". High School students have been identified as an important target of study. Subsequently, in the paper, we examined a project created by D.A.BI.MUS S.r.l. and Quorum Italia S.r.l, working on niche cultural goods also in this case. In this project, an anastatic printed book became a potential endless book capable of intercepting the interest of even large groups of digital users
An interview with Marina Manfredi on the use of systemic functional linguistics, and other ways of teaching translation studies
Marina Manfredi was interviewed by Marilena di Bari at the Centre for Translation Studies, University of Leeds (UK), where she had been invited to present a talk about “Applications of appraisal theory for the analysis of text types in translation”. In particular, Manfredi is asked to illustrate her innovative way of applying Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) theory to the teaching of Translation Studies that she has introduced in her graduate courses held at the University of Bologna. Manfredi illustrates how the SFL tool can help a deep text analysis of a variety of text-types, also in the case of English source texts translated into Italian target texts. She also discusses the main difficulties and potentialities arising from adopting an SFL approach to teaching translation at the university. She finally talks about her experience in researching and teaching audiovisual translation and finally offers her view on translation and technology in the specific field she works in

New indicators for sustainable tourism and transport networks resilience: the case study of Bari (Italy)
The social, economic and cultural perception of cities is strongly influenced by the tourism sector. Assessing the level of cycling in cities is essential to promote sustainable tourism, and factors such as safe infrastructure or public transport services including bike sharing systems are crucial.
Micro-mobility, particularly cycling, plays a significant role in providing sustainable and efficient transport between accommodation and tourist attractions. The growing popularity of cycle tourism, driven by trends in experiential, slow and active tourism, highlights the need for awareness of public authorities and administrations in decision-making through quantitative and qualitative methods.
This study proposes: a collection of cyclability indicators for tourist accessibility, including multimodal public transport- bike systems, which can identify areas requiring infrastructure improvement; a survey of municipalities is presented that provides a snapshot of the current state of services and infrastructure in the region and can direct stakeholders to expand cycling services; a assessment of the resilience of urban road networks during major events, with a focus on the integration of micro-mobility.
The thesis concludes with a study that also assesses the sustainability of transport modes for tourism through Data Envelopment Analysis, providing municipalities with tools to improve urban infrastructures as exemplified in the case study of the city of Bari
