    36. Porella prolixa (Stephani 1910: 260) Jones (1963: 460) Family:— Porellaceae. Distribution:— Endemic. Habitat:— Habitat unknown. The genus is rare in Africa, but the other African species occur at high altitude> 2000 m, as rupicolous or corticolous. Threat:— Known only from type locality "Insula Bourbon, Icono Steph. 096289". Porella prolixa appeared to be distinct from any other African species, none of which has apiculate leaves (Jones 1963). IUCN threat category:— CR[B2ab(i)] Specimen:— type: leg. Richard, G 9645, ex.
