Correggere e tradurre la poesia: il caso del Parisinus Suppl. Gr. 388
The present work focuses on the peculiarity of the codex Parisinus Suppl. Gr. 388. This manuscript is marked by a 12th-century Latin translation, running above some Greek verses of Theognis’ Elegies and entirely above the poems by Pseudo-Phocylides’ Sentences and by Dionysius Periegetes’ Description of the Known World. Moreover, the translator reviewed the Greek poems too. Hence, in this study I will focus on the correc- tion and translation of Theognis’ Elegies and Pseudo-Phocylides’ Sentences. Firstly, I will carry out a palaeographic analysis of the scholar’s writing. Secondly, I will scrutinize the Latin translation. Finally, I will analyse the corrections on Greek texts
Application of geographical information systems in the analysis of hydrological inputs to a shallow Mediterranean coastal aquifer
Contributions to the groundwater flow within the catchment domain are due to natural subsystems such as direct infiltration, recharge from surface networks and subsurface water flowing through the slopes. Groundwater quality is affected by such contributions in the case of surface water contamination; the space and time scales of the subsystems connections are investigated in the paper. As a distributed recharge evaluation is needed along the aquifer boundaries for providing inputs to traditional models, a distributed approach to the simulation of subsystems is proposed: GIS capabilities support the management of the large amount of information describing the catchment hydrology. Application of a hydrologically oriented GIS to the problem of recharge evaluation in the case of the Bisagno aquifer (Italy) is presented: procedures have been developed in order to link together different hydrological processes resulting into a subsurface flow model able to simulate the catchment contribution to the groundwater flow in the aquifer. -Author
On the description of the basin effective drainage structure
The relationships between the local properties of the morphological elements of a drainage basin and its drainage structure are analysed. Two theoretical approaches are used for which hydro-dynamics and basin morphology are respectively assumed to represent the lowest and the highest starting scale level. The results show a convergence toward the idea of slope scaling with contributing area in river networks. This concept is then used as an indicator of channel initiation and maintenance for the identification of the effective drainage structure of the basin on the basis of existing digital elevation models (DEMs). Integral properties of the single DEM pixel are finally introduced to reduce the noise owing to a possible DEM low accuracy, e.g. in the estimation of the local slope value from the elevation data set. The resulting network is characterized by a non-uniform drainage density, as expected for natural river networks
Methodologies for identification of drainage structures: space filling vs. hydrodynamics
The concept of slope scaling with contributing area proposed by LaA Barbera and Roth [this volume] is used as an indicator of channel initiation and for channel maintenance. This concept is shown to be a useful criterion for the identification of the effective drainage structure of the basin; existing Digital Terrain Models (DEMs) are used for the purpose. Integral properties of the single DEM pixel are introduced in order to reduce
the noise due to a possible DEM low accuracy, e.g. in the estimation of the local slope value from the elevation data set. The resulting network is characterized by a non unifonn drainage density
