BaraC is expressed in the nervous system, but also the hindgut and rectal pads.
A) FlyAtlas2 expression data for BaraC. B) RT-qPCR of BaraC in whole flies using different Gal4 drivers to express BaraC RNAi. BaraC is knocked down by both the elav-Gal4 and Repo-Gal4 nervous system drivers. Cumulatively, nervous system drivers significantly depress BaraC expression compared to BaraC-IR controls (student’s t, p Act>BaraC-IR provides a comparative knockdown to better understand the strength of nervous system-specific knockdowns at the whole fly level. M-am ţinut de slobozenia aceea, de scrisorile lui cele mai pe larg scrise, unde s-a căzut le-am scurtat; şi cele scurte unde-a fost de lipsă, le-am mai luminat. O am împărţit în 9 cântări.ʼ
Fran Barac and the Bogoslovska Smotra
Prigodom 135. obljetnice rođenja dr. Frana Barca (1872.-1940.), autor u ovom prilogu prikazuje njegov doprinos razvoju Bogoslovske smotre čiji je Barac bio dugogodišnji suradnik, i na njezinim stranicama objavio niz kvalitetnih članaka iz raznih područja (apologetike, povijesti religija i dr.). Zajedno s dr. On the occasion of the 135* anniversary of the birth of Fran Barac (1872 - 1940), the author of this article presents some of the most important details from the biography of this valued Croatian priest, theologian and scientist with special reflection on his contribution to the Bogoslovska smotra, the oldest Croatian scientific theological Journal. Barac was an associate for this journal for many years and together with Dr. Josip Pazman edited this valuable work in the period from 1912 to 1918. While he was the coeditor of the Smotra he wrote a large number of presentations of both local and foreign theological reviews and books (German, French, Austrian and ltalian). Often both he and Dr. Pazman wrote replies to readers' queries. In his works, in which he always endeavoured to be up to date, qualified and informed, it is obvious to distinguish his scientific interest and theological aspirations with the aim of deepening his knowledge about apologetics and modem philosophy. Barac published his well known expert articles and discussions about the history of religion in the Smotra from which it was obvious that he kept current in movements in philosophy, Indianology, ethnology, archaeology, etc. He was particularly interested in the development and results of archaeological and ethnological research and discoveries. He was also very interested in natural sciences and faith which were often the topic of his articles in which he proved to what level he followed and was familiar with the latest research results in the field of palaeontology and anthropology and of course their implications for man on a philosophical, spiritual and religious level. Barac's reflections clearly testify his aspiration for permanent interdisciplinary learning through studies of recent scientific literature.
As part of the Croatian Theological Academy, Barac strongly institutionally sup-ported the ideal, scientific and organisational development of the Bogoslovska smotra. His concern for the Smotra to be published and to serve to educate younger generations of scientists and priests and to popularise theological sciences were important directions in his work. Besides that, he personally financially assisted the work of the Academy and printed some of its editions. Many contemporary associates highly value his contribution to the ecclesiastic, pedagogical, scientific and political fields
CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE POLITICAL BIOGRAPHY OF FRAN BARAC
Autor je u radu sažeto prikazao život i rad svećenika, znanstvenika i političara dr. Frana Barca. Uz iznošenje glavnih crta njegova teološkog i znanstvenog rada te organizacijskog doprinosa razvoju Crkve i pojedinih njezinih institucija (Fakulteta, Hrvatske bogoslovske akademije, Dječačkog sjemeništa i dr.), donosi se i prikaz političkog djelovanja ar. Barca. The subject of this research was the role of priest, theologian and politician Fran Barac (1872-1940) in the political life of contemporary Croatia. His scholarly, professional and organisational work left a pro-found impression on the Croatian people and the Catholic Church. Barac was professor of the Faculty of Theology (from 1911. to 1937.), dean of the Faculty of Theology (1913./1914.; 1922./1923.) and head of the University of Zagreb (1915./1916.). He was a member of the Croatian Union (Hrvatska Zajednica) and member of parliament of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (SHS). In the ecclesiastical life of Croatia Barac was an important factor, because he was involved in the work of Croatian Divinity Academy (Hrvatska bogoslovska akademija), and Archdiocesan seminary, and played an important role in the development of Catholic press in Croatia. In this work the author using archival sources, newspapers (Srijem, Hrvat and Hrvatska sloga), and existing scholarly literature, analyses the most important periods of Fran Barac's life, with particular emphasis on his political activity. Special attention in the article is placed on Barac's relations with political organizations Jugoslavenski Odbor (Yugoslav Commitee) and Srpski presbiro (Serbian Press-bureau)

D. melanogaster BaraB and BaraC have neural functions.
A) Only BaraA is immune-induced. BaraB and BaraC do not respond to infection, though basal BaraC expression relies on Toll signalling (S3C Fig). B) Time series of whole animal Baramicin expression over the course of development. Expression values are normalized within each gene, with expression in the adult set to 100% (left panel). For context, normalizing each gene to BaraA in adults shows that BaraC and especially BaraB expression is much lower at a whole fly level (right panel). C) ΔBaraB mutations generated in this study. ΔBaraBLC1 is an incidental hypomorph with reduced BaraB expression (S3A Fig), while ΔBaraBLC4 has the intended genetic replacement of BaraB with a DsRed cassette. Both mutations cause expression of DsRed in the eyes, ocelli, and abdomen. D) Partial lethality of ΔBaraBLC1 hypomorphs or complete lethality of ΔBaraBLC4 null flies in varied genetic backgrounds. E) The partial expansion wing phenotype is copied by BaraB gene silencing using the neural driver elav-Gal4. F) Specific wing mechanosensory neurons seem to express BaraB in adults. Meanwhile the BaraC gene almost perfectly matches the expression pattern of glia specific Repo-expressing cells in single cell RNA sequencing of the adult fly brain [38].</p
