    Near-IR absorbing solar cell sensitized with bacterial photosynthetic membranes

    Current interest in natural photosynthesis as a blueprint for solar energy conversion has led to the development of a biohybrid photovoltaic cell in which bacterial photosynthetic membrane vesicles (chromatophores) have been adsorbed to a gold electrode surface in conjunction with biological electrolytes (quinone [Q] and cytochrome c; Magis et al. [2010] Biochim. Biophys. Acta 1798, 637–645). Since light-driven current generation was dependent on an open circuit potential, we have tested whether this external potential could be replaced in an appropriately designed dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). Herein, we show that a DSSC system in which the organic light-harvesting dye is replaced by robust chromatophores from Rhodospirillum rubrum, together with Q and cytochrome c as electrolytes, provides band energies between consecutive interfaces that facilitate a unidirectional flow of electrons. Solar I–V testing revealed a relatively high Isc (shortcircuit current) of 25 lA cm)2 and the cell was capable of generating a current utilizing abundant near-IR photons (maximum at ca 880 nm) with greater than eight-fold higher energy conversion efficiency than white light.     Grey literature archiving pattern in open access (OA) repositories with special emphasis on Indian OA repositories

    Purpose: This paper aims to examine the grey literature archiving pattern at open-access repositories with special reference to Indian open-access repositories. Design/methodology/approach: The Bielefeld Academic Search Engine (BASE) was used to collect data from different document types archived by open-access repositories across the world. Data were collected by advanced search and browse features available at the BASE on document types, the number of repositories by country wise and Indian academic and research repositories. Data were tabulated using MS Excel for further analysis. Findings: Findings indicated that open-access repositories across the world are primarily archiving reviewed literature. Grey literature is archived more at European and North American repositories compared to rest of the world. Reports, theses, dissertations and data sets are the major grey document types archived. In India, a significant contributor to the BASE index with 146 open-access sources, reviewed literature is the largest archived document types, and grey literature is above world average due to the presence of theses and dissertations at repositories of academic institutions. Originality/value: Grey literature is considered as valuable sources of information for research and development. The study enables to get insights about the amount of grey content archived at open-access repositories. These findings can further be used to investigate the reasons/technology limitations for the lesser volume of grey content in repositories. Furthermore, this study helps to better understand the grey literature archiving pattern and need for corrective measures based on the success stories of repositories of Europe and North America

    94-100The present study on the use of both external and internal grey literature by CSIR researchers shows that technical reports are most used followed by doctoral theses. It was found that engineering and physical sciences laboratories use more internal grey literature than chemical and biological sciences laboratories. These and other findings help is framing content development policy for technical grey literature, framing policies for internal grey literature archiving, designing digital repository framework to archive internally generated grey literature and improve access and devise ways to enhance their visibility and use

    A Comparative Bibliometric Analysis and Visualization of Indian and South Korean Library and Information Science Research Publications During 2001–2020

    The paper aims to present a comparative analysis of scholarly research output in the fields of Library and Information Science (LIS) in India and South Korea. The Web of Science database was used to retrieve the bibliographic data of the Indian and South Korean LIS published documents during 2001–2020 and the indicators were included in the analysis: research productivity, publication-quality, most prolific authors, institutions and journals, “Annual Growth Rate (AGR)”, “Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR)”, “Relative Growth Rate (RGR)”, and “Doubling Time (DT)”. All types of documents such as articles, conference papers, book reviews, corrections, editorial materials, so on were included in the study. MS Excel, VOS viewer, and bibliometrix (R-tool) software were used for tabulation and mapping. The results show that South Korea placed the top in the overall output of LIS research publications during the last two decades. The Indian LIS research output, Annual Growth Rate (AGR), and Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) were good compared to South Korean LIS publications. In addition, the South Korean LIS researchers’ output has increased rapidly in terms of publications, citations, average citations. Gangan Prathap (India), Seyoung Lee, and Heejin Lee (SK) are the most prolific authors; Indian Institute Technology, Delhi and Yonsei University, Seoul are the most prolific institutions; and the Scientometrics journal was the most preferred journal by the Indian and South Korean LIS researchers during the study period. The results of this study are useful to administrators, policymakers, and academics. In addition, the scope of this study might include looking at research published by LIS scholars in India and South Korea, as well as examining all types of academic publications

    Enhancing the impact of indian scholarly communication through institutional repositories

    The high quality research accompanied by innumerable scholarly communications to various national and internationals journals and conferences has put India in the forefront in the developing world and leader of South Asian countries. Unfortunately, only the elite institutions have reasonably good information provision facilities that support scholarly communications. On one hand the paucity of funds for the subscription based scholarly journals and on the other the shrinking budget discourage both the access to vast scholarly publications and publication process itself. The open access literature plays a vital role, both in terms of research communication and access, provided, of course, the benefits in terms of economic and social recognitions are assured by this system. The open access movement was triggered by the journal crisis due to exorbitant price increase of the publications. Institutional repositories represent an important OA-channel and are relatively new developments in scholarly communication process compared to open journals and subject-specific repositories. The paper presents the Indian scenario in adopting the open access and the status of the open access journals and Institutional Repositories. The authors depict the main bottlenecks for setting up of IRs in various Indian institutions and come up with appropriate suggestions

    Pattern Electrodes for Studying SOFC Electrochemistry

    Pattern anodes can be used to localize reactions and study individual processes like charge transfer, adsorption, diffusion etc. Ceria and Nickel (Ni) pattern anodes were fabricated with the same dimensions with Triple phase boundary (TPB) lengths of 0.2707 m/cm2. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) of Ni anodes yielded results comparable with the results in literature (0.0001 Scm-2 at pH2O = 2.4 kPa and 700oC). Ceria shows a different value for conductivity compared to the nickel, possibly because of the mixed electronic ionic conductivity of ceria and the spreading of the TPB over the surface of ceria. Identifying rate limiting mechanisms on ceria pattern anodes and comparing them with those of nickel gives a more complete picture about elementary processes at the cermet anode.Process and EnergyMechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineerin

    Ceria and nickel pattern anodes are prepared and tested in order to gain a fundamental insight into the electrochemical oxidation of hydrogen on either of these surfaces. It is found that ceria is highly active towards electrochemical oxidation of hydrogen with lower polarisation resistance because of the mixed ionic electronic conductivity of ceria. In addition, the activation energy with ceria patterns is much lower indicating that the ceramic catalysed pathway is much faster as well.     This study analyses the research output in Quantum Computing, which the trend in the development of quantum computers which are promising than classical computers. The data for this study was downloaded from Web of Science (WoS) database for the period 2011-2017. A total of 10,551 records were yielded for the period of seven years. The growth of literature, the degree of collaboration, prolific authors, journal distribution, were discussed in this study. The average degree of collaboration was 0.875. Peter A. John was the most prolific author with 46 publications to his credit whereas, Muthu S secured the second position. A total of 1235 journals were preferred by the authors to publish their research results on Quantum Computing in which Physical Review B occupied the first position with 610 records in its collection
