Bernardino Brugnoli “erede” della bottega sanmicheliana e i suoi rapporti con Andrea Palladio
The relationship between Veronese architect Bernardino Brugnoli and Andrea Palladio can be configured by considering some events common to Veronese and Emilian building sites. In par-ticular, the two architects between 1560 and 1570 had similar assignments, were sometimes called upon by the same clients, and often employed the same masons and stone workers. Through a survey of unpublished sources and archival documents, the essay aims to highlight the relation-ship between Bernardino Brugnoli and Andrea Palladio, which became particularly close after Michele Sanmicheli’s death in 1559. A special focus is reserved for the coeval Veronese context, marked by a reconfiguration of the architect’s role. Indeed, the study reveals an ongoing relation-ship between the two architects and especially the versatility of Bernardino Brugnoli, who was not only an architect but also a hydraulic and military engineer and cartographer
