A Search For Exotic T = 2 Or T = 3/2 Meson States At Lear
We discuss particular ( {Mathematical expression} p) two-body annihilation reactions as a tool to search for exotic meson resonances presumably described in terms of (2q {Mathematical expression}) configurations. These reactions may be studied within the comprehensive program of the OBELIX spectrometer at LEAR
Production of Heavy Flavors In Nuclei At the Ares Facility
The recent proposal of the ARES facility, a single-pass electron-positron collider up to 15 GeV c.m. with high luminosity, opens the possibility of producing Λc+ (Λb)-hypernuclei by means of the charm (beauty) exchange reactions on nuclei. An estimation of the production cross-sections as well as experimental conditions and requirements are discussed
Is It Possible To Measure the Lifetime of the Antineutron At Superlear
A preliminary study of the possibility of measuring the neutron lifetime at the SUPERLEAR facility has been performed. The principle of the method and the crucial parameters of the measurement are described in a particular experimental setup and the results in terms of expected decay rates are reported
Features of charged-pion energy spectra in antiproton-4He annihilation at rest and formation of excited hadronic blobs
New data on the pion spectra measured in selected channels following the antiproton annihilation at rest on 4He are presented and discussed in the light of statistical models
On the neutron emission from the Ti/D system
The results of a set of measurements of neutron emission from D(2) gas loaded Ti (metallic and sponge) at different initial values of the D/Ti ratio are reported. The D/Ti system was submitted to thermal cycles in order to pass through phase transitions. We observed no neutron emission with an upper limit of 0.05 neutrons s(-1)g(-1)(1 sigma level), in four series of measurements, whereas in two series we observed a neutron emission at a similar to 2 sigma level
The Trigger of the Tofus Detector
The TOFUS detector is a low energy neutron detector based on double scattering and dedicated to Cold Fusion experiments. We have designed, built and tested special logic circuits allowing a fast decision in a time less than 200 ns, and able to reduce the background signal to 0.035 trigger/sec. Then a software analysis reduces this number to 0.007 events/sec in the (2 divided-by 3) MeV neutron energy range
On the use of the (π−,K0) reaction on nuclear targets for the precise determination of the lifetime of the hydrogen hyperisotopes and other neutron-rich Λ-hypernuclei
Recent results reported by experiments with relativistic (heavy) ions have raised again the question whether the lifetime of ill is very close to the lifetime of the free A hyperon. An updated careful analysis of all the existing experimental data shows that it is not, contrary to theoretical calculations. A similar conclusion can be drawn for the neighbor H-4(Lambda). A clear cut high precision measurement performed with the straightforward method of time delay spectra is however lacking and it is eagerly needed. The idea of using the (pi(-), K-0) charge-exchange associated production reaction on targets of liquid He-3,He-4 is discussed. A possible realization exploiting a large part of existing facilities at J-PARC is presented. A measurement with a 5% precision seems within reach with a modest effort and in a reasonable amount of time. The same set-up would also serve very well for the measurement of the lifetime of several neutron-rich Lambda-hypernuclei of the p-shell, in particular of B-12(Lambda). More importantly, the Weak Decay partial widths Gamma(pi-), Gamma(p) and Gamma(pi 0) could be simultaneously determined in order to confirm their predicted strong variation with mass number, A, due to nuclear structure effects.
