Maitre D' Apprenticeship Program
The hospitality industry has historically trained its own employees at the entry and supervisory level. Today, because of the growth of the hospitality industry, even with the proliferation of hospitality education programs, more non-hospitality trained personnel are entering the industry than ever before. The maitre d' apprenticeship program is designed to complement the in-house training programs of hotels and restaurants with a college curriculum leading to an associate degree and national certification in food service management. The maitre d' apprenticeship program is designed as a model for community and junior colleges to provide an alternative to fulltime college programs to meet the needs of front-of-the-house food service employees who wish to develop their basic skills and supervisory talents. The model of the maitre d' apprenticeship curriculum details the course content needed to meet the certification requirements of the International Food Service Executives Association (IFSEA). </jats:p

Nonperturbatively improved heavy-light mesons: Masses and decay constants
We present a study of the heavy-light spectrum and of the D- and B-meson decay constants. The results were obtained in the quenched approximation, by using the nonperturbatively improved clover lattice action at beta =6.2, with a sample of 100 configurations, on a 24(3)x64 lattice. After a careful analysis of the systematic errors present in the extraction of the physical results, by assuming quite conservative discretization errors, we find f(D)=231+/-12(-1)(+8) Mev, f(D) = 211 +/- 14(-12)(+2), MeV f(Ds)/f(D) = 1.10(2) f(Bs) = 204+/-16(-0)(+36) MeV, f(B)=179 +/-18(-9)(+34) MeV, f(Bs)/f(B) = 1.14(3)(-1)(+1). Our results, which have smaller discretization errors than many previous estimates at fixed value of the lattice spacing a, support a large value of f(B) in the quenched approximation

Heavy to light vector meson semileptonic decays
New (preliminary) results for the form factors relevant for the semileptonic decays of heavy pseudoscalar to a light vector meson are presented. In particular, we discuss the form factors for D → K* and B → π modes

Letter from D. W. Kempner to Maitre d'Hotel requesting reservations for Kempner's upcoming trips. He will sail eastbound on August 13th and westbound on October 28th. Kempner asks for a table for three in the dining room and deck chairs on the Sun Deck, similar to a previous arrangement
Non-perturbatively renormalized light-quark masses with the Alpha action
We have computed the light quark masses using the O(a(2)) improved Alpha action, in the quenched approximation. The renormalized masses have been obtained non-perturbatively. By eliminating the systematic error coming from the truncation of the perturbative series, our procedure removes the discrepancies, observed in previous calculations, between the results obtained using the vector and the axial-vector Ward identities. It also gives values of the quark masses larger than those obtained by computing the renormalization constants using (boosted) perturbation theory. Our main results, in the RI (MOM) scheme and at a renormalization scale mu = 2 GeV, are m(s)(RI) = 138(15) MeV and m(i)(RI) = 5.6(5) MeV, where m(s)(RI) is the mass of the strange quark and m(l)(RI) = (m(u)(RI) + m(d)(RI))/2 the average mass of the up-down quarks. From these results, which have been obtained non-perturbatively, by using continuum perturbation theory we derive the MS masses, at the same scale, and the renormalization group invariant (m(RGI)) masses. We find m(s)(NLO MS) = 121(13) MeV and m(l)(NLO MS) = 4.9(4) MeV at the next-to-leading order; m(s)(N2 LO MS) = 111(12) MeV, m(l)(N2) (LO) (MS) = 4.5(4) MeV, m(s)(RGI) = 177(19) MeV and m(l)(RGI) = 7.2(6) MeV at the next-to-next-to-leading order
Vision Assessments and Interventions for Infants 0-2 Years at High Risk for Cerebral Palsy: A Systematic Review
We performed a systematic review and evaluated the level of evidence of vision interventions and assessments for infants at high risk for or with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy from zero to two years of age. Articles were evaluated based on the level of methodologic quality, evidence, and clinical utilization. Thirty publications with vision assessments and five with vision interventions met criteria for inclusion. Assessments included standard care neuroimaging, electrophysiology, and neuro-ophthalmologic examination techniques that are utilized clinically with any preverbal or nonverbal pediatric patient. The overall level of evidence of interventions was strong for neuroprotective interventions such as caffeine and hypothermia but weak for surgery, visual training, or developmental programs. There are few evidence-based interventions and assessments that address cerebral/cortical visual impairment-related needs of infants and toddlers at high risk for or with cerebral palsy. Recommendation guidelines include the use of three types of standard care methodologies and two types of protective interventions
