La GI per la GI....l'esempio del progetto TURAS
No full textL'autore è stato invitato dal Consiglio Direttivo dell'associazione AMFM a fare una presentazione relativa al progetto EU TURAS, di cui la Sapienza è partner ed in cui l'autore lavora attivamente.
Nella presentazione è stato messo in evidenza il rapporto tra la Geographic Information e la Green Infrastructure, frutto di considerazioni derivanti da alcuni studi ed indagini effettuate per il WP2 del progetto Turas, che tratta le infrastrutture verdi.
La presentazione ha aperto alcuni argomenti di discussione, che Sapienza sta sfruttando nel prosieguo delle attività del WP2 di TURAS.The author has been invited by the Executive Council of AMFM Association to present some topics on the EU TURAS project, whose Sapienza is partner and in which the author is working actively.
The presentation highlighted the relationship between the Geographic Information and the Green Infrastructure, as result of some considerations arising from a number of studies and surveys carried out for the WP2 of Turas project, about the green infrastructure.
The presentation opened some discussion topics, that Sapienza is using in the continuation of the activities of WP2 of TURAS
Volunteer work measurement for Time banks: The case of Partner in Care Maryland
No full textThis research aims to analyse different approaches for measuring volunteer work with the study of an important US Service Exchange Program, Partners in Care Maryland (PIC).
We compare the generalist approach to replacement costs used by PIC with other more specialist approaches and we also test the method proposed by ILO Manual that considers the
full replacement cost, i.e. assigning the actual wage for the occupation and industry of the work performed to each hour volunteered. The case of PIC shows how the generalist
approach generates an overestimate dollar value with respect to the other approaches proposed by literature and practice. Time banking organizations, with a broad range of tasks, should calculate the economic value of volunteer work using a replacement cost approach that considers tasks and fields; and also have to show this value in financial and social statements both for internal and external purposes
Volunteering Measurement and Management: Evidence from Maryland
No full textVolunteer work is a natural and renewable resourcethat can be effectively measured and
evaluated by organizations that use unpaid workers to perform activities and to execute
programs. We would like to examine howand whyU.S. nonprofit organizations measure this
important resource and determine if that measurement affects the management of volunteer
activities and programs.
We studied the cases of four charitable organizations from Maryland with different
dimensions, fields, and scope. In this explorative multiple-case study each organization
confirmed the main hypotheses that the measurement of volunteer work positively impacts both
the effectiveness, and the efficiency of volunteer programs and activities. We also consider other
characteristics of these organizations that are impacted by measurement activities and other
volunteer management practices. The results can be generalized to other nonprofit organizations
that have the same structured system of volunteer management, but may exhibit different
characteristics in terms of dimension, fields, and/or scope
La misurazione del lavoro volontario nel modello di accountability delle Imprese sociali
No full textLe imprese sociali molto spesso fanno ricorso all’uso di forza lavoro volontaria. Questa importante risorsa, al pari di tutte le altre, per essere meglio gestita deve essere misurata e
rendicontata. Il presente studio propone una rilettura del modello di accountability economica e sociale di questa particolare categoria di aziende - in particolare quello proposto dall’Agenzia per
il Terzo Settore - considerando metodi di misurazione e rendicontazione del volontariato che si
stanno diffondendo nella letteratura e nelle prassi internazionali.
In particolare, si considerano le indicazioni contenute nell’ILO Manual on the Measurement of Volunteer Work – la cui validità ed utilità è stata recentemente riconosciuta
anche dal Parlamento Europeo - sui metodi da adottare per valutare detta risorsa “rinnovabile”, in
particolare il cosiddetto “full replacement cost”; nonché i modelli di accountability proposti in particolare dalla letteratura di matrice anglosassone, dove la pratica della rendicontazione del
lavoro volontario è un fatto relativamente consolidato, per esempio il modello Expanded Value Added Statement (EVAS) proposto da alcuni studiosi dell’Università di Toronto e molto diffuso in US o il modello Volunteer Investment and Value Audit (VIVA) più diffuso in UK e in altri paesi del nord Europa (Olanda, Danimarca, ecc.)

Design handbook on Urban Green Infrastructure: a challenge of TURaS project
No full textIt is now widely recognized as the answer to sustainable urbanization and to the needed control of the soil consumption is the design and planning of the so-called "green infrastructure". The concept of green infrastructure is not only linked to environmental and landscape themes but has now assumed a nature more strictly socio-economic as well as cultural-historical, to ensure a high environmental quality level in urban areas.
Nowadays, the key challenge in the most cities of the world, that involves urban planners, managers and designers, is to devise strategies that promote the creation of new green spaces and maintaining the existing ones to offer new opportunities and services to citizens and, at the same time, to decrease the continuous urban sprawl and to deter the soil conversion of the green belt in housing or industries.
These are the challenges that are being addressed by the TURaS Project, presented in this paper

adatto alle organizzazioni nonprofit; conseguentemente sono stati sperimentati strumenti e
processi e-learning, utili a favorire l’implementazione ed il corretto utilizzo del modello
proposto.
Il modello è stato testato nell’ambito di un “esperimento” di Networked Collaborative Learning
condotto sulle organizzazioni di donatori di sanguedella Regione Abruzzo. I managerdi dette
aziende hanno interagito in ambiente virtuale utilizzando il formato digitale di Bilancio sociale
(e-BS) realizzato con il software “Adobe LiveCycle Designer” ed hanno collaborato “in rete”
attraverso l’uso di specifici strumenti e-learning
AMFM per e-skill for jobs
No full textLo sviluppo delle competenze digitali è un tema di forte attualità in Italia ed in Europa, ne è un esempio la recente dichiarazione di Riga su e-skill for jobs. Al tempo stesso il rapido sviluppo delle Geo-ICT sta cambiando la società ed il comportamento umano, per cui occorre migliorare la capacità delle persone di comprendere le modalità d’uso dei nuovi strumenti e di sfruttare le potenzialità dei servizi disponibili.
L’associazione AMFM è da sempre molto attenta a queste tematiche nell’ambito specifico dei GIS, per cui, con la partecipazione al programma di sviluppo prima e con l’attivazione di corsi di formazione poi, si è recentemente qualificata come sede di esami della certificazione GIS – endorsed by ECDL Foundation, meglio conosciuta come ECDL-GIS, la certificazione delle competenze nei Sistemi Informativi Territoriali.The e-skills development is of great relevance in Italy and in Europe, as delivered in the recent Riga declaration on "e-skills for jobs". At the same time the rapid development of Geo-ICT is changing the society, so it is necessary to improve the people ability to understand how to use new digital instruments and to exploit the potential of the services available.
The AMFM Italian association has always dealt with these issues in the specific field of GIS, so, by the participation in the program of development before and by activating of training then, recently it qualified as test center of GIS certification - endorsed by the ECDL Foundation, known as ECDL-GIS, the certification of skills in Geographic Information Systems
