It is similar to H. arcisaccula, sp. nov. in the male genitalia, and the differences between them are stated in the latter species. Description. Adult (Fig. 4). Vertex grayish brown, frons grayish white. Antenna grayish brown, with blackish brown ring on each flagellomere. Valva with basal excavation approximately 0.33 length of valva; costa obtusely produced before middle; sacculus right angled ventroapically, with sparse short spines on outer margin; neck approximately half maximum width of cucullus; cucullus elongate, approximately 1.5 times length of sacculus, gradually broadened to obtusely rounded apex, with a cluster of sparse short spines beyond neck, with large ventral spine located before basal 0.33 and before apex respectively. Phallus approximately 0.66 length of valva, gradually narrowed to apex, with dense micro serrations on distal 0.33; cornuti consisting of numerous deciduous seta-like needles and one thick spine. Female genitalia (Fig. 13): Sternite VII divided into two subquadrate lateral sclerites connected below ostium bursae, with narrow densely spinous anterior hump at each side of ostium bursae. Ostium bursae situated in middle of sternite VII, large and subrectangular, longer than wide, with fine spines along lateral margins, with wrinkles posteriorly. Antrum inverted trapezoidal, short, approximately 0.17 length of ductus bursae; colliculum long and broad, widening from basal 0.33 to near end of ductus bursae; ductus bursae nearly equal length to corpus bursae. Corpus bursae ovate; two signa blade-shaped, with rounded basal plate; appendix bursae and corpus bursae nearly equal in size; ductus seminalis originating from base of appendix bursae. Sternite VI with posterior margin concave and sclerotized medially. Distribution. China (Hainan, Yunnan). Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin orthocerus, referring to the sacculus right angled ventroapically in the male genitalia.Published as part of Bai, Xia & Li, Houhun, 2019, Taxonomic review of the genus Herpystis Meyrick, 1911 (Lepidoptera, Tortricidae) from China, with descriptions of four new species, pp. 382-392 in Zootaxa 4590 (3) on pages 389-390, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4590.3.4, http://zenodo.org/record/265343

Banished Immortal: A Life of Li Bai

    No full text
From the National Book Award-winning author of Waiting: a narratively driven, deeply human biography of the 8th century poet, Li Bai...also known as Li Po...one of the most beloved poets ever to emerge from China. With the instincts of a master novelist, Ha Jin draws on a wide range of historical and literary sources to weave the life story of Li Bai (701-762), whose poems...shaped by Daoist thought and characterized by their passion, romance, and lust for life...rang throughout the Tang Dynasty and continue to be celebrated today. Jin follows Li Bai from his birth on China\u27s western frontier through his travels as a young man seeking a place among the empire\u27s civil servants, his wanderings allowing him to hone his poetic craft, share his verses, and win him friends and admirers along the way. In his later years, he becomes swept up in a military rebellion that alters the course of China, and his death is surrounded by speculation and legend that continues to be spun to this day. The Banished Immortal is an extraordinary portrait of a poet who both transcended his time and was shaped by it, and whose ability to live, love, and mourn without reservation produced some of the most enduring verses in the worldhttps://corescholar.libraries.wright.edu/dlpp_all/1588/thumbnail.jp
