Catalytic Activity of Iron and Matal Salts for Steam-Char Gasification
The catalytic activity of five different binary mixtures of alkali (K2CO3, K2SO4, Na2CO3) and iron salts (FeSO4, Fe(NO3)3) on steam-char gasification at 700-800-degrees-C was measured in a thermobalance reactor. Under the same experimental conditions with 3 wt% catalyst loading, the catalytic activity of the pure salts is in the order K2CO3 > Na2CO3 almost-equal-to FeSO4 > K2SO4 > Fe(NO3)3. For K2SO4 and Na2CO3 the gasification rate could be enhanced by addition of iron salt. A synergistic effect of alkali and iron salts on the gasification rate was observed and the mixtures K2SO4 + FeSO4 and K2SO4 + Fe(NO3)3 exhibited better catalytic activity than K2CO3 at 800-degrees-C. A kinetic parameter is proposed as a simple measure of activity of various catalysts based on the grain model. On the basis of the kinetic parameters and melting behaviour, K2SO4 + FeSO4 in the temperature range 700-800-degrees-C is an effective catalyst for steam-char gasification.Ministry of Energy and Resources of Kore

HIGHLY STABLE POWER-SUPPLY USING DIGITALLY CONTROLLED PHASE-CONTROLLED RECTIFIER AND ACTIVE-FILTER
A design of a highly stable current-controlled power supply combining a phase-controlled rectifier (PCR), passive filter and active filter is investigated. A digital phase-locked voltage control (PLVC) with a capability of compensating the thyristor firing angles under an unbalanced power source is proposed; otherwise the PCR output voltage has low-order subharmonics whose suppression requires a bulky passive filter. The digital PLVC has a fast dynamic characteristic as an inner control loop of the PCR. To suppress further the output ripple, an active filter using a transformer is introduced and its design is described through a frequency-domain analysis. An optimal, proportional and measurable-variable feedback (IPM) controller is designed using a time-weighted performance index based on a time-domain analysis. The design method based on the time-weighted performance index gives a better response characteristic than that based on the conventional performance index. It is shown via experimental results that the proposed scheme gives good dynamic and static performance.X111sciescopu
Author Identification from Song Lyrics
Machine Learning (ML) tools have been used extensively in a wide variety of domains
recently. Due the enormous amount of data being produced, machine learning techniques
are being heavily used to make sense of data & derive meaningful results. Using machine
learning tools, we can turn the data into knowledge.
Music is one of the truest forms of art. Bangladesh has a great history of music with a
great tradition of song writing over centuries. Authorship attribution is the way of
identifying the author from a linguistic corpus.
This paper demonstrates a guideline to identify the author of a Bengali song from the
lyrics of that song using machine learning. This research work presents the first work on
machine learning approach for author attribution from the lyrics of a song. Here six
methods of machine learning are used for the author identification and high accuracies
have been achieved from these methods. It is observed that Naïve Bayes method provides
higher accuracy in comparison with the other methods
Optimization of high-reflective broadband subwavelength structure (SWSs) on distributed Bragg reflector
Subwavelength structures (SWSs) on distributed Bragg reflector(DBR) is investigated to achieve broadband and high reflection. By proper optimization of each parameter, very high reflectivity can be obtained in broad sepctral range for only 5pairs of DBR. © 2011 National Sun Yat-Sen Univ

The Singer or the Song? Developments in Performers' Rights from the Perspective of a Cultural Economist
Over the last century, performers gradually acquired statutory protection of their economic and moral
rights. These rights are not copyright in the legal sense but neighboring rights and until recently, they
were mainly remuneration rights that are collectively administered. With the WPPT (WIPO
Performers and Phonograms Treaty), performers now have individual exclusive rights for digital
performances; this leads to the question: what has motivated this change – is it a change in the
perception of the value of performer or a change brought about by the changing technology of copying or,
indeed, a change that reflects different economic costs and benefits? The paper discusses the role of
copyright law as an incentive to performers and asks if the economic role of the performer is so different
from that of the author. The conclusion is that a complex interaction of the legal regulations, economic
conditions and institutional arrangements for administering these new rights will determine the outcome
