Integrated Environmental PlanningFossil and carbon-based fuels have helped mankind develop its society and create a globalized world. However, it is well known today that the use of these fuels has led our environment to multiple crises, including climate change, air and water pollution and the threat of mass extinction, not to mention what may happen to our society when oil reserves have been depleted. For this reason, society and the economy must start phasing-out of fossil fuels and slowly begin to adapt to new, sustainable and renewable sources of energy

The present invention relates to a solid electrolyte composition comprising: a) at least one (per)fuoropolyether comprising a (per)fluoropolyoxyalkylene chain [chain (Rpf)] having two chain ends, wherein at least one chain end has formula (I): -[CH(J)CH2O]na[CH2CH(J)O]na'-H (I) wherein each J is independently H, aryl, straight or branched alkyl, and na and na', equal to or different from each other, are zero or an integer from 1 to 50, with the proviso that na+na' is from 1 to 50; b) a poly(alkylene oxide) comprising chains of formula (II): R1 B-[OCHR1 A(CH2)jCHR2 A]n-OR2 B (II) wherein each of R1 A and R2 A is independently a hydrogen atom or a C1-C5 alkyl group, j is zero or an integer of 1 to 2, R1 B and R2 B is independently a hydrogen atom or a C1-C3 alkyl group, and n is an integer from 5 to 1000, and c) at least one lithium salt

Correlation between α1-antitrypsin deficiency and SARS-CoV-2 infection: Epidemiological data and pathogenetic hypotheses

    No full text
The most common hereditary disorder in adults, α1-antitrypsin deficiency (AATD), is characterized by reduced plasma levels or the abnormal functioning of α1-antitrypsin (AAT), a major human blood serine protease inhibitor, which is encoded by the SERine Protein INhibitor-A1 (SERPINA1) gene and produced in the liver. Recently, it has been hypothesized that the geographic differences in COVID-19 infection and fatality rates may be partially explained by ethnic differences in SERPINA1 allele frequencies. In our review, we examined epidemiological data on the correlation between the distribution of AATD, SARS-CoV-2 infection, and COVID-19 mortality rates. Moreover, we described shared pathogenetic pathways that may provide a theoretical basis for our epidemi-ological findings. We also considered the potential use of AAT augmentation therapy in patients with COVID-19
