He also expresses his gratitude toward the YMCA and the men of Springfield College.During World War I, Wilkinson fought with the the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers (an Irish infantry regiment of the British Army formed in 1881) and was killed in action at Ronssoy on March 21, 1918
